John Abraham Beckelhymer (1797 Va - 1880 Or), was never found recorded/documented with spelling of "Johan", or "Johann"; German "Johns"/Etc, and too long a story for here. Likewise, except for two (2) documents, and the word of my grandfather (and mother) stateing so, I have never found any other record/document listing his middle name of "Abraham". My grandfather was the son of John and Margaret daughter, Mary (Beckelhymer) Boor. My mother lived next door to Mary untill Marys death in 1911. John signed his name as John Beckelhymer, though when others signed it, or recorded it, it could be any of the short or long corruptions. The use of "Johan" and "Johann", after first couple generations in America, usually meant that someone was miss-informed about their use. Plus, "John", and Johan/Johann", would not be used by anyone that knew correct application, with "Jonathon". Remember, also, that even though there was much correct info/data in a couple of those "diarys/storys", there was quite a bunch of incorrect and/or mixed up info/data also. John Abraham Beckelhymer married Margaret Peggy Short (1802 Ky - 1866 Ind), and they were the parents of the Elijah that married Amanda Wheeler.
