Fellow Behymer researchers: Please be advised that I have just posted a major update to my web page. Point your browser to: http://members.home.net/johntippet/ Included with this update are the following: (1) I have altered my thinking on some of the children of John Behymer, Sr Vs those of John, Jr. Previously, I had Solomon, Daniel and Joel listed as sons of John, Jr. I now have them listed as sons of John, Sr. I have also added a daughter of John, Sr (name unknown) who married a Lower. I am not going to elaborate here on why I have made these changes. Rather, I am in the process of writing a detailed analysis of the key early records - this analysis forms the basis for my conlusions - it will be posted on my web page in the not too distant future (many thanks to Rick Phillips who particpated in many brainstorming sessions with me and whose insight was invaluable in helping to figure this out). I also had a David who married Elizabeth Sailor, listed as a son of John, Jr. I have moved this David to the missing links section of my web page based on Ruth Erhardt's information that Marshall Wingfield, in his book, "Marriage Bonds of Franklin County, VA, 1786 - 1858, incorrectly transcribed a marriage of David Picklesimer to Elizabeth Sailor (thanks Ruth for pointing this out). (2) I consolidated the three William Pickelheimers born circa 1800 (#s iii, iv and v, respectively, on the missing links section of my web page) into one, all the son of David and grandson of Jacob, Sr. The reasoning for this was previously explained in one of the Salt Lake City research reports that I posted to this list earlier this year. (3) I moved Jacob, Joel, Isaac and Solomon (#s vii, xi, xvii and xx, respectively, on the missing links section of my web page) to sons of Enoch and grandson of John, Sr. The reasoning for this was previously explained in one of the Salt Lake City research reports that I posted to this list earlier this year. (4) I moved Moses Sylvester Pickelheimer and David L Pickelheimer (# xxvi and xxix, respectively, on the missing links section of my web page) to sons of David and grandsons of Jacob, Sr. I also moved David Pickelheimer (#xxxi) to the son of William R and grandson of David. The reasoning for this was previously explained in one of the Salt Lake City research reports that I posted to this list earlier this year. (5) I deleted Washington Behymer from the missing links section of my web page and added a note to George Washington Behymer (son of Martin Behymer and Lucinda Beagle) that he was likely the bondsman for the marriage of James Rardin and Martha Stephens in Campbell County, KY on 26 Jan 1838. Thanks to Sallye Gundy Martin for pointing this out! (6) I corrected the name of the spouse who married missing link Mary Bhymer from Henry Buttes to Henry Butler. I also added new information on this line that I obtained from the Rootsweb web site. (7) I corrected the name of the husband of Anna Behymer, daughter of Samuel Behymer, b. 1763 to James Fitzpatrick (her father was incorrectly listed as Solomon Fitzpatrick). I also corrected the 1820, 1830 and 1840 "by name" census enumeration analysis of Anna's family. Many thanks to Karen Erickson for providing the new information on this line. (8) I added Catherine Pickelheimer (b. circa 1831) who married Jared Powers on 31 Jan 1850 in Clermont County, OH and Elizabeth Pickelheimer (b. circa 1838) who married Jacob Miller on 15 May 1860 in Clermont County, OH to the missing links section of my web page. If you know anything about these two, please contact me. (9) I added a section to my web page for Behymer transcribed tax records. Tax records currently posted are: (1) Campbell County, KY Tax Books 1795 - 1858 (including surname of Rardin), (2) Hamilton County, OH Duplicate Tax Records 1816 - 1826, (3) a preliminary cut at the Botetourt County, VA Personal Property Tax Lists 1783 - 1810 (I say preliminary because I am not quite through reading and transcribing the microfilm - all of the information for the Picklesimers is there and accurate, but I am still wading through some of the allied family names, such as Kinsey, Frantz, Weddle, etc.), and (4) a preliminary cut at the Botetourt County, VA List of Tithables 1770 - 1789 (this is even less far along than item (3)). Shortly into the new year, I will be finishing the Botetourt County, VA items as well as adding the Clermont County, OH Duplicate Tax Records 1816 - 1824 and Franklin County, VA Tax Lists 1786 - 1803 (both of the latter two microfilms I have in my posession on loan at my local LDS Family History Center. After I have gone through those microfilms, I will be ordering the tax records for Montgomery County, VA next. (10) I added two new biographies to the scanned images section of my web page: (1) Elhanen D McCord of Hancock County, IN (son of Mary Behymer, one of the Behymer missing links), and (2) Thomas Benton Behymer (son of Aaron Behymer). If anyone on the list is aware of other biographies that may exist, please contact me off list. If you would like to share them with others, I will add them to my web page. For example, I believe there was a short blurb on Henry Markeley Behymer (son of Samuel Behymer) that was published in a History of Denver. Henry Markeley was an undertaker and chief of police in Denver. I have not be able to find a copy of this biography, however. Also, there is a biography of A J Behimer (son of John Behymer and Jane Meeker) that is posted on my web page that comes from an IL history (Wayne or Richland County?). If anyone knows the source for this biography, I would very much appreciate it if you would contact me with the details. (11) I added 8 new obituaries to the scanned images section of my web page: (1) William R Pickelheimer (courtesy of Ruth Gaskins on this list - Thanks Ruth!), (2) Esther (Behymer) John, one of the Behymer missing links, (3) James John, husband of (2), (4) James Madison Behymer, (5) Edith (Oswald) Behymer, wife of (4), (6) Thomas Benton Behymer, and (7) and (8) Luella (Brown) Behymer, wife of (6). If anyone has obituaries that you would like to share with others, please contact me off list (note: I am only posting obituaries for Behymers born before 1850 because of the space that the scanned images take up). (12) I have updated the 1820 through 1880 census enumerations. The major changes are for the later years (especially for 1880 where I have added many of the IL census enumerations). (13) I added a first cut at the 1900 census enumerations. By first cut I mean that currently only the entries from the IN soundex are listed (not the actual enumerations). (14) I added a first cut at the 1920 census enumerations. By first cut I mean that currently only selected entries for Clermont County, OH are listed, i.e. those that I downloaded from the Ancestry.com web site over the holidays when the census images were being offered for free. (15) I updated the spelling of some of the names that I had listed as Beckelhymer to Behymer. These were primarily for the descendants of Elijah Behymer of Sangamon/Christian/Brown Counties, IL and a few other IL Behymers (descendants of Chapman Behymer and Alexander Beckelhymer of Fulton County, IL if I remember correctly). I still have many descendants of Abraham, Sr and Jacob, Sr still left to correct in this manner. (16) I updated the acknowledgements section of my web page to recognize the outstanding efforts of Rick Phillips. Enjoy and Happy New Year! John Charles Tippet johntippet@home.com
