Yes,I can. Bob Davison and I ran Bethel's end for the Bethel Chamber of Commerce, and represented Bethel in the group meeting at Batavia under Judge Nichols, who united the events at Georgetown, Bethel, and Pt Pleasant. And,faint memory is, that the group under Judge Nichols had events themselves, including a "Land of Grant "auto tour, and a banquet at Bethel High School-Sen Bob Taft,Jr,speaker. And,I have good memory that the Batavia group made an attempt to find descs of the Grant's [and likely Simpson's] Now,I was so busy with Bethel's several events, I could not go on the Land of Grant tour, but it's 100% Audrey Richards and Lena Swing were the 'Grand old Dames' of the tour. And Audrey's dau-in-law is here on-line. barich@fuse.net It's also 100% that a vidio tape was professionally made, and pereserved [in Bethel's bank]? And it's 100% that pictures of that event were added by Asst Co Supt of Schools Bob Slade to the reprint version of the Theiry and Mitchell 'History of Clermont" then being readied for publication. Of the Batavia group,it is 90% that Bob Slade had to write descs. And 100% that Judge Nichols, who preforrmed magic at schools, knew,a magic shop owner in Columbus,Ohio that was [? ] US Grant,A DESC. That was 1972, and most are dead, but Bob Davison and I survive-he with a good memory, and mine? And Ray Gelter, who with ex-wife Joy, had charge of the battle re-inactment. And Larry Harlow, whose tractor lot was used for the display of steam engines and old tractor-which led to the Antique Tractor group at Georgetown. Jerry Fitzgerald had the file cards from our Christmas parades,to quickly organizea huge parade thru Bethel. Bob Slade died 3 yeaars ago. I attended 2 days of auction, and he had a 1 car garage stacked full of manila folders of papers. The county group followed the lead of Judge Nichols uncle, who ran the 1922 at Pt Pleaant, where my Mom was on a steam boat accident, and where President HARDING attended. The Upper Deck of the Island Queen collapsed, injuring 27 Coins were sold at each, and fancy programs of ? 50 pages The Bethel Sr Woman' Club donated their library of 50 years in the Grant Memorial building to be made into a museum. Rev John Ellwood, and Rev Carl Ely,and my parents, had events at Old Bethel It was the stated wish of Bob Davison that we do some things of a permant nature, and we we did. page 17,I see Bob Slade included an article on John D WHITE,Grant's teacher at Georgetown, and father of a lawyer,Chilton White 6 PM,friday,April 28,1972 at Bethe-Tate high was the banquet The Batavia group ran the activities at Grant's birth-place at Pt Pleasant,Oh April 27,1822 C-SPAN'S Grant extpert,John Simon attended. He was excutave directoyr of the US GRANT Assn,in s Illinois.
