Ohio death certificates and the Ohio death certificate index are available as follows: 1909 - 1912: death certs and index available thru the Ohio Historical Society (OHS) and various libraries (Cincinnati Public Library, e.g.) on microfilm 1913 - 1944: as for 1909 - 1912 plus on-line index is available at the OHS web site: http://www.ohiohistory.org/dindex/ 1945 - 1953: as for 1909 - 1912 1954 - only index (no death certs except thru OHD) available thru OHS and various libraries on microfilm 1955 - 1957: nothing available (except thru OHD) see below 1958 - 2000: death certificate index available on Ancestry.com pay site: http://www.ancestry.com/ Death certificates for any year from 1954 through the present time can be ordered through the Ohio Department of Health (OHD), but they are $16.50 each (ouch)! See: http://www.odh.state.oh.us/vitalstatistics/vitalstats.aspx OHS just recently updated their on-line death certifcate index to cover the years 1913 thru 1944 (previously they covered only 1913 thru 1933). Does anyone know if they plan to add 1909 thru 1912 and 1945 thru 1954 in the future?
