James Arthur was born in Burlington Co,NJ they say. He served in the Rev War from the South Branch of the Potimac,and married there an elder daughter of Thomas and Mary Ball Brown. He married 2nd,about 1803,by Phillip Gatch,near Milford, an Osborne widow. His 1st wife's siblings in Clermont included Joseph and Mary Parker Brown,of N Milford. Batcholar Wm Brown,and John Brown and Sarah Trotter Brown,of N Bethel,and George Brown m 2nd John John's daughter.,of n Nicholsville. And a Saylor orphaned neice who married a Roudebush. James Arthur's parents called themselves James and Hannah McArthur in Bourbon Co,Ky.
