1870 atlas shows S.W.Ulrey's 70 acre farm in no 561 [?] .Perhaps landlocked. Shows a lane east from Ohio Rt 133 east of Macedonia Road. Dad's Rupublician 1 room school is at that intersection. 1870 shows an informal lane past Ullrey's to Starling Rd. My wife sold a small farm on that lane 15 years ago that had abot 30 acres. flat. Above is ne of Bethel. SE of Bethel is Patterson Rd,and Parke's lived on it once. Lamanda Parke, the gunsmith, comes to mind. At the se end of Patterson Rd,at Sodom Rd,was,1800,Levi Hunt, and Levi's son,Thomas was a gunsmith, too. Jacob Teal emigrated from Queen Anne county, Maryland, in 1794, with his brother in law, Joseph Avey, to Kentucky, and settled with his wife, Elisabeth, in 1798 in Miami township, and the next year located on the hills of eastern Union township, where now lives Oscar Johnson. He died about the year 1845. He was six months in the service, doing garrison duty near Baltimore city. His children were Philip (died young), Samuel a <here is a missing section that inadvertently got chopped off on my photocopy> Jacob L, the latter the well known magistrate, who died in 1869, and father of the late Jesse L. Hello, I am researching John B. Tibbets and Amy Wood that were married in 1829 in Clermont Co.. In the 1880 census of Humbolte, Allen County, Kansas, I find John and Amy Tibbets living with Thomas C. Barr and his wife Malissa. It does not give the age of the Barrs. We know that John and Amy had several family members close by at this time that they could have lived with in their old age, so who is Thomas Barr and why are they living with them? A thought has crossed my mind, that the Barrs may be related to John and Amy. Does any one have Barr history of Clermont Co., that eventually moved on to Allen Co., Kansas? This is a shot in the dark, but have to start somewhere. Thanks, Carolyn

While we are on the subject of Ohio Church records I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to solve a problem I have.... Several years ago I discovered that Charles M. Smith, widower, residing in Clermont Co. Ohio is supposed to have remarried to Adeline O'Conner in 1849 Butler Co. Ohio - the marriage being performed by Rev. Arthur W. Elliott (Methodist Minister). Note - a number of O'Conner marriages are said to have taken place in Butler Co. OH. I contacted the "Methodist Archives at Ohio Wesleyan University" and was advised to call the First United Methodist Church, 225 Ludlow Street, Hamilton, Ohio since any records would be housed there since it is an active church. I telephoned the phone number provided by the archivist and spoke to a very helpful secretary at the church who warned me that there had been a fire in 1920 and there is no guarantee that the records I am looking for had survived. She also explained that the records that did survive are kept in an unused part of the building in no particular order and the only one who might be able to offer any help would be the church historian. I wrote to the name and address provided but never received a reply. If I remember correctly the secretary had warned me that the church historian might decide that the request was unanswerable for any number of reasons. I'd love to get a copy of the marriage record of Charles M. Smith & Adeline O'Conner, along with the other family records that might be housed at that church but am not quite sure how to go about it. I have the impression that those records have not been reproduced and archived at any of the "regular sources" (libraries, historical & genealogical societies). Thanks for any help or direction you are able to offer, Susan McIntyre
1642,I have found mention on a Robert Short on Kent Island,in the Chesapeake ,of where the town of Londontown,Anne Arundal Co,Md was formed in 1682. 1701,Abraham Short m Naomy Thurman,at All Hollows Episcopal,Birdsville, Anne Arundal Co,Md. [1690's-1776,the Episcopal church was the official church of Maryland].. A John Short m Mary Miller at All Hollows church in 1732. It looks to me as though my wife may have 100+ years of ancestors south of the South River, and north of the West River, which both drain into the Chesapeake. My own Dugal McQueen lived 1716-1742 south of the West River, near the 'Cliffs' of Calvert Co,se Md.
Watch Edenton,North Carolina also. Mrs Herbert Rowan was pesident of Beech Forest DAR ,then meeting in Williamsburg,in 1948-49 when the DAR Monument Instruction book project was started by them. Her son,Harold Rowan, was married to a Williamsburg High classmate,a Jordon. [my Dad's students when he was Williamsburg High's Principal. Their son,Herbert,is retired to Jackson township. Edenton was a tiny spot in 1816,and never grew much. It's located where the Bullskin Trace [Ohio Rt 133 ] crossed the headwaters of Stonelick Creek.
Hi Gracie Not sure of the churches in Edenton, but I did find reference in my grandfather's little book of an Alma Jordon in Williamsburg. Didn't know if you had that name on your list. I'm not sure where she fits but I'd almost bet she's connected to the family somehow. I'm hoping to get back to Clermont Co. sometime this Fall to do somemore BINKLEY research. Go to www.google.com and search for 'potato famine" [1845-51] My guess is that Patrick Cassidy landed at New Orlans, and that John Salt there paid his pIrish Potato Famine (1845-1849) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaassage due bill.
Pam, You need to contact Marty Cassidy at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) and check out his website at _http://home.earthlink.net/~cassidym/_ (http://home.earthlink.net/~cassidym/) for more information on Cassidys. Good hunting! Sylvia Outland Lebanon, OH
I am researching Patrick CASSADY who married Martha DEBRULER in 1853 in Clermont County, Ohio. Patrick was 35 at the time of his marriage so he would have been born about 1818. He doesn't appear in the 1850 census of Clermont County. He and Martha had 1 child, John Salt CASSADY in 1854 and Patrick died in 1857. On later censuses, John Salt Cassady states that Patrick was born in Northern Ireland. I am trying to determine when Patrick arrived in the U.S. I don't know Patrick's parents' names or if he had any siblings. In researching Clermont County land records, I couldn't find anything about Patrick, but I came across three other Cass* (various endings included -idy, -edy, -eday, -aday, iday): - Lee Cassidy, who first bought property in the county in 1832 and last sold property in 1865 - James Cassidy, who brought property in 1847 and 1848 and sold it in 1851, and - Martin Cassidy who bought land in 1860. Does anyone know anything about these other Cassidys? I'm wondering if any of them were related to my Patrick. Thanks for any help! Pam Cassiday Decatur, GA
Mrs W.Earl Johnson was nee Hilda Musgrove, who grew up on Musgrove Rd,1\2 way between Bethel and Williamsburg. Hilda wrote me once that Mr Johnson died suddenly one day when she was out with the DAR ladies copying cemetaries. Hilda and her mother,Mrs James Musgrove, were active in the Beech Forest DAR at the time 1948-59, when they researched the 10 vols of the cemetary book. [reprinted as 1 vol about 1970.] Hilda married 2nd Arlee Blaknee, and lived then[ 1970's] in Arlington,Tx.Her mother, and my wife's grandmother were active years in the Sunshine Farm Woman's Club. Hilda's brother, George Musgrove, rode to Williamsburg High with my Dad. George's son,Jim,and sister, Nancy, rode my school bus 7,and Jim was my classmate in 1954.
Hi everyone, With the abundance of knowledgeable people on this list obviously interested in Clermont Co., I thought I 'd let everyone know that it was announced last night that Clermont Co., OHGenWeb is seeking a new Coordinator for the website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohclermo/. Conrad Weiser I mentioned is either a son or grandson of the Conrad Weiser, The Conrad Weiser that Herman and you are referring to is John Conrad WEISER was born in 1696 in Germany. He died on 13 Jul 1760 in Womelsdorf, PA. He was buried in His farm, Womelsdorf, PA. The Apple's, Bolander's and Shinkle's were all from this area. WEISER, CONRAD, Reading. Will dated - November 24, 1759. Will recorded: July 31, 1760. There is a book "Conrad Weiser 1696-1760 Friend of Colonist and Mohawk" by Paul A.W. Wallace, that is interesting. Andrew Apple's father Wilhelm Apple/Appel/Apfel did work for Conrad Weiser (1696-1760). The Conrad Weiser that was tax collector and Andrew fined for missing drill, was still alive during the War. I have Lovina's birthdate as September 8, 1806 on a handwritten note by Malinda A. Wheeler, daughter of John Jr. Wheeler and Thankful Thompson. (Malinda died in 1885). On this note she states William and Margery's birth dates as well as their children. It shows that William and Margery were married January 31, 1805.
