    3. John Abraham Beckelhymer (1797 Va - 1880 Or), was never found recorded/documented with spelling of "Johan", or "Johann"; German "Johns"/Etc, and too long a story for here. Likewise, except for two (2) documents, and the word of my grandfather (and mother) stateing so, I have never found any other record/document listing his middle name of "Abraham". My grandfather was the son of John and Margaret daughter, Mary (Beckelhymer) Boor. My mother lived next door to Mary untill Marys death in 1911. John signed his name as John Beckelhymer, though when others signed it, or recorded it, it could be any of the short or long corruptions. The use of "Johan" and "Johann", after first couple generations in America, usually meant that someone was miss-informed about their use. Plus, "John", and Johan/Johann", would not be used by anyone that knew correct application, with "Jonathon". Remember, also, that even though there was much correct info/data in a couple of those "diarys/storys", there was quite a bunch of incorrect and/or mixed up info/data also. John Abraham Beckelhymer married Margaret Peggy Short (1802 Ky - 1866 Ind), and they were the parents of the Elijah that married Amanda Wheeler. (Elijah was the brother of my great grandmother, Mary (Beckelhymer) Boor). Hope that helps? Take care. Regards, Dick

    1. BUCHANAN,FEE,CLARK, KAYSER Families
    2. Has anyone done research on any of these families? I am struggling with my copy of the 1880 History of Clermont County and due to the repetition of names and confusing way they have listed children, it is hard to follow. ALEXANDER BUCHANAN JOHN BUCHANAN m. Margaret Fee daughter of Thomas Fee ROBERT BUCHANAN m. Ellen Elizabeth Clark AUSTIN E. BUCHANAN m. Matilda Kayser On a recent trip to Ohio, I drove to Clermont County to show my daughter and grandson family graves and the old Buchanan house. I used to see the house from the road but met only a locked fence unless my memory of the road was confused. I would like the address of the Washington Township office so I can get directions for family members who may be driving through the area. Frances Benoit

    1. MELVIN / HICKS /OWENS
    2. Betty Jo
    3. Nancy Melvin who married Elijah Hicks in 1823 is my 3rd great grandmother. Census records show that she was born in MD. A loose paper listing births and deaths (author unknown, but found in the Family Bible of her son, Henry Melvin Hicks) states that "Nancy Melvin was born 24 Jun 1806". A newspaper announcement in 1900 of the 50th wedding anniversary of Henry Melvin and Hannah Francis (Owens) Hicks stated that among those present were "Mr James Melvin of Brooksville, KY. The latter was present at the wedding 50 years ago, which was performed at the old Owens homestead opposite Utopia in KY" I don't have any other definite info on her but a number of "presumptions" that I'm using as a working hypothesis. John Melvin signed her marriage bond, so was probably father or brother. Census data puts John with the same birth year as Nancy, so they could be twins and are at least siblings. Will be glad to share any information I have and would like to here more about your Melvins. 3. Hi Betty, Couldn't find a CASTER until I realized you misspelled it the first time through. 3-201 EDWARDS Caroline to Phenias L. CARTER 20 Sep 1839 by David Jones JP Walter Wood http://mywoodfamily.us -----Original Message----- From: John Gebhardt [mailto:jgebhar@adams.net] Sent: Friday, July 29, 2005 9:50 AM To: OHCLERMO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OHCLER] Marriage lookup request Could someone look up a marriage for me? I have a confusion of dates. One date shows September , 1839 - doesn't seem ?quite? accurate with the birth of the first child -- though possible. The other date I was told is September 1838. In that file he was listed as Phenias L. CASTER married to Caroline EDWARDS. These are the same people evidentally the R in Carter must have looked like an S. His actual name was Phenias (spelled many ways) L. CARTER married to Caroline (Nancy) EDWARDS. Would someone be able to check to see if there is a Phenias CASTER listed in 1838 marriage or P.L. CARTER for 1838 or perhaps the Nancy or Caroline EDWARDS name. They were married in Clermont county. Thanks for any guidance you can give Betty. ============================== Census images 1901, 1891, 1881 and 1871, plus so much more. Ancestry.com's United Kingdom & Ireland Collection.
