    1. Re: [OHCLER] McCoy/Badgley
    2. The Beech Forest DAR of Cleermont,in 1955-56,copied the old cemetary in Neville village,[no Badgley's nor McCoy stones were surviving]. Also,Vesper Cemetary,1/2 mile north, out of flood waters [except 1937,etc]. [Badgley and McCoy's found in it. Even earlier, 5 miles north of Neville,on Tu rkeyfoot R oad,off Fruit Ridge Rd,they cop ied,and published also, the Woo d family cemetary, not to be confused with Dr Allen Woo ds cemetary north of Chilo.Elizabeth Wo od,young wife of Ro bert Badgley, was in the Wood cemetary. [A o power generating plant owns the land on Tu rkeyfoot, etc for ash burial, but has a turn-around r oughly where the Wood cemetary is located. The Woo d family, and the Manning brothers had a fort 1-2 miles north in 1795-96. 1870 atlas shows J.F.Badgley on the Ohio Ri ver hillside or hilltop between Neville, and Fr uit Ri dge. Rev Carl Ely's Fletcher's lived near there.Neville cemetary seems to be 1819-1850-60,and then Vesp er took it's place, being 20-50 feet higher ,and out of more flo o d waters.

    3. Probably no connection to the John Davis below, but I am researching Davis families in Clermont and Brown Counties. My grandfather was: Joel Albert Davis (b1888) Joel's parents: John Jordan(b1858) & Flora Bell Patton Davis. John's parents: John W.(b1826) & Mary Jordan Davis. I do not have a lot of information on John W.'s family yet. Different census records have him born in PA and VA. Combining this with familiar names in the area, I figure probably the Redstone Old Fort area, but do not know for sure. The information people have posted on the web is INCORRECT. He is NOT the son of William West and Hannah Shaw of Chester Co., PA., who was born in 1771. (That William West stayed, married, lived a full life and died in the same county) It seems like everything would fit perfectly with the West family who came from VA (Descendants of Thomas West) and were in present-day Adams County, Brown County and Bethel area of Clermont County. BUT, there is NO indication of his existance in the volumes by Donal West. I mention him in connection with your post, Betty, because among tiny clues I have: His first grandson's name....Thomas Owens Edwards West. Sam's own son was Samuel Roberts Strong West (mother's maiden name was Strong, but cannot find a Robert as a given name or a family name of Roberts). His daughter was Rebecca Julia Evans West, and although her mother was Rebecca, I do not know from where the Julia Evans came. Any tips appreciated! Amy Schneider

    3. Hi Eileen, My CARTER was born abt. 1814 in New Richmond, OH (can't remember what township that is.) to parents who were born in PA. (I believe Chester County, PA). I don't know where Williamsburg is within the county. How early have you gone back for your CARTER's? What I don't know: A lot!! But ...have been trying to find out.. 1. The names of the parents of P.L. CARTER (shown as CASTER in one record). 2. Whether Phenias Lewis (?) had any siblings? 3. He P.L. married Nancy Caroline EDWARDS in Sept 1839(1838) in Bethel Tate Township & that's where they stay until about 1869 when they went to Iowa. My guess is because her family had relatives that went there.
