Jerry Halstead and I visited a number of Underground RR sites yesterday. Jerry was using his handheld Globial Positioning Devices. My Dad was 1898-2000. Dad's uncle,Capt William Fagley was,his sisters reported later,a conductor on the Underground R R. Will m Maria Fee,dau of UGRRer Robert Fee,who was son of UGRRer Thomas Fee. They were married by Ripley's famous UGRRer,Rev John Rankin. I nterested reseachers might searh for Rev John Gregg Fee,of Berea College, fame. Jerry and I traveled along the Ohio River, from very se Clermont west to Christian Ebersole's at the mouth of 10 Mile. [RE cemetaries-there 'MUST" have been,or is aan unpublished cemetary in the wide Ohio River bottom east of the mouth of Bullskin. That bottom was one of the two most populated areas of 1800 Clermont. Later, there were many deaths when a commune's building collapsed in a flood. South East Franklin township. Also,I did 'NOT" note the "OLD' cemetary along Rt 52,in Neville. I was looking for it from the car window. We passed Pres-Gen US Grant's birthplace in Pt Pleasant [spring,1822].We passed Rev Parker's Academy at Clermontville. And we went the length of New Richmond. The Ohio River, west of the 'HIGH' dam at Neville is not much higher than years ago. Kentu cky owned the Ohio River, and slavery was legal to the "LOW WATER MARK" ON THE Ohio side. When we stopped at proven Underground Railroader Robert Fee's,at w Moscow's river bank, legal slavery was yards south of his home site. A sign marks the site under ancient trees. 2 barns remain that may have been Robert Fee's. We stopped at Lewis Fagaly's 1867 house. Capt Will Fagley had to have operated out of the Fagaly's former home south of Poplar Creek. The house at that site [once Benjamin South's cabin], was built about 1867 by Will Fagley's br other,Miller Woodson Fagaly, [I'm spelling the surname correctly,as each spelled it.
Thank you John! I have also been searching for the history of Woodville, on the slim chance that it had something to do with Richard and Zedekiah Wood's history in Wayne Township. Jerry Halstead and I were looking for his Thomas Fee's cemetary last dusk. We had been to his Robert Fee's homesite sign w Moscow, and to Fee Villa, on the Moscow,Clermont Ohio river landing, and to Robert Fee's tombstone in the Moscow cemetary. I know roughly where Thomas Fee lived, and wonder if the family cemetary copied by the DAR ladies in the 1950's survives today.[?] We continues to the new New Richmond Public Library, and used their "P.T. White Funeral Home records" book to get the creamation dates of Capt Will Fagley and wife,Maria Fee-Underground R ailroaders who we marr ied by the noted Underground RailRoader,R ev John Rankin, just after tthe Civil War. Aileen Whitt, noted Clermont genealogical author, had a flyer on the Library research desk advertizing a geneaslogy lecture for beginners. The library is a mile west of New Richmond,on old Rt 52,north of current US RT 52.It is the last of 1/2 mile of new businessses starting with Frisch's and the IGA supermarket
Thanks, Mr. Fagley! You are helpful to all and always interesting in your comments. Lora Lora
One could guess the Woodville cemetary roughly at Ohio Rt 133 and the Warren-Clinton-Clermont Co junction, with Brown Co not far east.

I would be interested in knowing the name and possibly the number of the road where the Pickelheimer's had a farm. It should be William R. and his family--my great-grandparents. I would love to be able to drive by. Thanks for any help ! Lora Lora
I lived in Anderson Twp for 40 years, and all of these cemeteries with the exception of Stagg share a name with a township road. Asbury Rd extends from SR 125 (Beechmont Ave) south to US 52 (Kellogg Ave) crossing I-275, which runs east/west in the township. It is approximately 2 miles east of the Clermont line. Ayers Rd. Extends between Five Mile Rd on the west to Asbury Rd. A length of about 1 mile. It lies south of I-275. There are members the Ayers family living today in the township. Bennett Rd. extends between Birney Lane and Markley Rd, also about a mile in length and running generally east west. Bennett Rd intersects Markley just north of where Markley intersects Five Mile and Bennett intersects Five Mile at the same place as Markley. Anderson township was settled in the 1790's and like Clermont was part of the Virginia Military District which extended west to the Little Miami River. That river is the western boundary of Anderson Township. Mound building Indians occupied the township at least 500 years prior to the white settlers. I mis-spoke. These se Anderson twnsp cemetaries are in,or were in, se most Hamilton Co,adjoinig sw Clermont. The Bennett cemetary is 15 miles west of your Washington twnsp Benetts. Witham's colony at Withamsville,w Clermont, included 2 Bennett families [from down-East Maine like Witham?] My own is Alexander BENNETT,whose dau,Sarah,m Edward Wlson-Willson, 1724 at Mt Holly,NJ Quakers, and moved,1734,to Woodbury,NJ.
I had no idea that there was a Bennett cemetery in Clermont Co. Do you know where it is ? Several of my Bennett's lived near Indian Creek I wonder if it could be in that area ?
I remember seeing Dumford stones and I'll look for Pickleheimer. I know there are Pringles there. There is a farm up the road where Pickleheimers lived.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I will look through the cemetery one day this week and get back to you. Rebecca

John Conover,Jacob Chatterton, and Charity Denham Beck were among the founders of what has been Bethel,Clermont's largest church in the early 1820's. You should check the Stephens/Stevens families in northern Kentucky in particular Campbell/Kenton counties. Wm,of Benj Johnson,of Tom's River,NJ shore, had [memory] 11 kids by 2 wives.5 girls and 6 boys. Several of the girls married in Tom's River, and came to Clermont's US Rt 50 area 1805-12. He was twice my wife's ancestor because of a 1st cousin marriage between his grandchildren.. Wm ,of Benj Smith m Eleanor Irons, m Lucretia Johnson soon after 1790,and 1809 settled on Ohio Rt 133 2 miles south of Rt 50. Samuel Ashton m Hannah Johnson, and pioneered,1811,near Marathon. West on Rt 50 15+ miles, several Lemings sett led in Miami township, and one was married to a Johnson. Some Shumard's were near the Leming's,then 1 moved to a water powered mill on Stonelick Creek. The Shumard's had a brother who stayed back in NJ ,who married the youngest daughter of Wm Johnson.I've seen it spelled with a Ch,and I subscribed to a Shumard-D-request@rootsweb.com group online awhile.
