Anna, The I.O.O.F. stands for The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a secret fraternal society that evolved in late 18th century England. The origin of the name Odd Fellows cannot be traced. The American order was founded in 1819. In 1980, the lodge had a world wide membership of 1,200,000. The K of P is: The Order of Knights of Pythias is an international non-sectarian fraternal order, founded in 1864, and was the first to be chartered by an act of Congress. The Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias and its members are dedicated to the cause of universal peace. Pythians are pledged to the promotion of understanding among men of good will as the surest means of attaining Universal Peace. We believe that men, meeting in a spirit of goodwill, in an honest effort of understanding, can live together on this earth in peace and harmony. (My great grandfather Franklin Pierce Lambert belonged in Jackson or Gallia Co. OH) I don't know what the Jr. O.U.A.M. might be. June
Hi Debbie, I too, have a grandmother who died at Longview Hospital. I know I would have loved her dearly had she not died way before I was born. Longview Hosp. is in Hamilton Co. Cincinnati and the name has been changed to: Pauline Warfield Lewis Center 1101 Summit Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45237 At least, this was the address when I wrote to them in 1992. I was trying to get copies of my grandmother's records. Their answer, "I'm sorry I cannot give you that information, but the state of Ohio has a retention law that allows records to be destroyed on inactive patients who have not been in the hospital for ten years". My grandmother died in 1929 and I guess her records have been destroyed. If anyone knows that these records were rescued by someone and are in a repository somewhere, please let us know. My grandmother, Bertha Brittania (Brittie) Cornwell Straub, was born in Bethel, (Clermont Co) OH, but lived in Cincinnati all her married life. She is buried in Tate Twp. Cemetery in Bethel. This is the address I wrote to in 1992 to get a copy of my grandmother's death cert. Vital Records 1525 Elm St. 4th. Floor West Cincinnati, OH 45210 Since your grandmother did not die the same year mine did, I am not sure this is the right place for you to write. There is a $7.00 charge per request and if they are unable to locate your records, there is a $3.00 non-refundable file search fee for each record requested. They will not accept personal checks. Send a certified check or money order and a SASE, business size. Good Luck! Janine in TN

Virginia, 'Thank you' for all your information and how to read more about these organizations. My mother had shown these to me so long ago, I know she must have told me what they were, but I had forgotten. They were my great grandfather's, A.W. (Albert Wilmore) REED, from Clermont Co. OH. I really feel lucky to have them. 'Thanks again', Anna Wagner
June, 'Thank you' for your reply about the ribbons. Someone else also replied and said the other one was: Jr. Order of United American Mechanics. 'Thanks again', Anna
Got some skeletons in my family tree. My Grandmother died in Longview Hospital.Viola James-about 1941. Does anyone know where it is located? Is it still in operation? I need the County and City to apply for a death certificate. Thanks, Debbie
Bruce, thank you so much for looking up Williams for me. I have the death certificate for my grandfather. His name was Charley A. Williams. Died 11-8-1910. I can't locate his grave. There is no marker and he was buried in a "borrowed" grave. His father was David Williams, mother Fannie Windel. I don't think they were from Clermont County. I can't locate them any where. Do you know if any one kept records of location of burials before 1930? I saw where you mentioned "burial permits". What information is on them and where can they be found? Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Debbie
I am interested in talking to researchers on Dennis SMITH, John MEEKS, and Cormwell families. I have a Abram MEEK that married Almira Apple, d/o Daniel Apple and Sarah Lane. Almira was b. 26 September 1825, and d. 02 November 1887, and married 02 June 1846, all Clermont County, OH. I researcher said her records has Abram and John Abram MEEK, need children. Is John Abram MEEK connected to the John Meeks listed as War 1812? And a Dennis Smith had a daughter, Sarah that married into the Meek family? Bonnie

Fellow Behymer researchers: Please be advised that I just posted an update to my web page today. Point your browsers to: http://members.home.net/johntippet/ Included with this update are many more census entries for 1870 as well as a first cut at the 1880 census. For 1880, I have posted mostly just Pierce Township, Clermont County, OH. Behymers who are not currently in my database are flagged in red. If you have any information on these individuals, please contact me. Also, if you have other 1870 census entries (other than the few I have not looked up yet, let me know). Enjoy! Sorry to use the list but I've mislaid the email address for Claudia Cox Welton. Are you out there? Please contact me. Thanks, Pat Mount
Would anyone know who to contact if you have grandparents buried in the Williamsburg Cemetery to get markers for them? They never had one and my mother wishes to get them now. Can it be done? Thank you, Anna Wagner

I just found an obit in some family papers. It says; In memory of Emily Sthal, who died November 10, 1884. It is just a poem after that. Does anyone know who this is? This was found in a school book belonging to George Washington Carter 1861 - 1938, from Williamsburg, Oh. Eileen Blair
I am looking for how to get to the old Mt. Olive Cemetery in Franklin Twp. It looks like it is across a field from Love Road which is between Felicity and Chilo, I think. I plan to be in the area in late June and want to find a grave in it. I have the list of burials as read by someone and published in the book about Clermont Co. Cemeteries before 1900. But to save time, I need to know exactly how to DRIVE to it FROM Felicity. Can anyone help. To be specific, I am going to look for the grave marker for Mrs. Elizabeth Trisler, consort of Jacob Trisler, died July 16, 1849, age 66 years 1 day. Elma Jackson Burke, Houston, TX
I am trying to find out about my family, My Great Great Grandfather Benjamin Brunaugh was born June 11, 1833, in Clermont County, His parents were Henry and Edith Brunaugh. If any one can help me with these pictures please let me no. Thank you PAT C
Martha and other Cros(s)ley researcher's. I have William and Sarah (Powell) Crossley's wills and DAR Records and the information you sent to Clermont Co., Oh is wrong. William Crosley, f/o Elizabeth did not married Sarah Duggan. I have both William & Sarah's wills. She was a Powell, sister of Rachel who m. Moses Crosley who was William's brother. This is documented in Wills and DAR records. Sarah (Powell) Crossley, died in Shelby County, Indiana. When Scott Trimble was writing his history on Donham's, found a Sarah Duggan, or similar name, who was heir to a will in PA. Tossed it up as a "what if" to see if anyone knew how it connected, or if it connected. All of us (other Crossley) were promptly answered the name was valid but connection totally wrong. Scott took it anyway and ran with it. Bonnie Andrews
Lora, also found this info, seems that Enos and Martha Evans had some sort of tie in to Laura Hannah as they applied for a burial permit for her on April 30,1904 also applied for one for Bertha Culter on Feb. 2,1917. Don't know if this is anything to you or not. Bruce
Lora, sorry but haven't yet found anything onJames or Medora. The listing of Evans in Sewanie are C.D., Albert W., Elva L., William, Sarah Belle, Marshall, Sylvia, Sylvester, I imagine you already have this info, if not let me know and I will post birth and death dates for these people. I will keep looking. Bruce
Debbie, again sorry about the delay. I went to the cemetery and found that there are 2 Williams family plots. lot 269 has about 10 graves listed are Matthew, Charles J., infant of Flora, Byron, Purlina, Ida, Florabelle, infant of Charles, Ella, and Katherine. Of these only Ella Katherine, and Byron have headstones. Also found graves of Charles J. 1858-1928, Elizabeth Vaught 1874-1928, Nettie Mitchell 1866-1933, and Sarah A. Williams 1878-1937 these aree all on one headstone. There are 2 other graves on lot 269,maybe your Charles is in one one of them. The Cemetery didn't start to keep records until 1930. Hope some- thing here will be of some help to you. Bruce
