Dear departed Elsie Sevil found a low area of mid England, where these people moved to Branford,Ct, and when the New Haven colony merged with the Ct colony, and non-church members were given the right to vote, this colony moved on to Newark,NJ in 1666,just after the English took New Netherlands from the Dutch, in 1664. And it seem like several of the OHCLERMO-L queries of the past few days mention,in part, these people. Early Columbia,Hamilton Co,and Bethel,Clermont Co had their share. There is an ED BALL website that might tell more,or your search engines. Newark and Elizabethtown NJ, and Woodbridge, and adjoining villages. Some of these people started their migrations west when burnt out by the British on Manhattan, and Staten Island,1776-83. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! I am looking for information regarding Sugar-Tree Run Wesleyan Methodist Church. I have been told that there is reference to Elizabeth ROGER's being a member of this church in the "History of Clermont County, OH". Thank you. Hello listers... My Jesse Fletcher married Hannah Simpkins in Clermont County on 10/10/1811. Notes from a relative say that Hannah was born in 1793 in NJ. Her father was Ephriam Simpkins and her mother was Hannah Statham. If anyone has information on these two family lines of Hannah's, or on her, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. I have not seen these names mentioned on this list. Susan in Milwaukee

Thanks to all (Roberta,Sylvia, Kevin, and others) for the response re: MEEKERS & DEMARIS. My primary search is OWEN & MURRY, but we are stopped at a couple of points and hope the MEEKER or DEMARIS connections might help us along. MATILDA (??) MURRY's daughter MARY JANE MURRY married WILLIAM DEMARIS 1867 (Clermont, Co). Her mother MATILDA (widow??) married LOTT MEEKER in 1869. These I have found in the records. We have, by family legend, that a sister of MARY JANE's also married a JIM MEEKER. My uncle, still living in Cincinnati, remembers "Uncle Jim", but cannot make a connection. So if any one has a MEEKER/MURRY(AY) it would be great to hear fom you. We think JIM MEEKER had a daughter RACHEL who married a ROBERT NORMAN, but am really not too sure of this. I am really trying to find MARY JANE's father.??? A WILLIAM H. MURRY( unknown relation to Matilda or Mary Jane) witnessed the Matilda Murry/Lott Meeker marriage, so the two families were probably close. MARY JANE MURRY DEMARIS married ISAIAH OWEN on the death of William Demaris in 1873. Their son WILLIAM DEMARIS, jr and my Grandfather CHARLES OWEN (Mary Jane & Isaiah's son) were raised together as brothers and my father and uncle remember "Uncle Bill Demaris" well. He married a Jewel (??), but we have no records of that family, or any of the MEEKERs. Any and all connections are appreciated. I do have complete descendants ISAIAH OWEN/MARY JANE MURRY to present if that is of interest to anyone. Thanks again John Owen
I got mail from the list, but I accidently deleted it. If someone was sending information on the family of John and Isabel Wishard Craig, please send it again. Mary Beth Adams New Jersey
John and Roberta - My husband's greatgrandfather, Robert Meeker, lived in Indiana, but the 1850 census says he was born in Ohio. So I'm trying to find out about Ohio Meekers. Roberta - does your Timothy Meeker have any brothers or uncles who went to other parts of Ohio? We think Robert Meeker may have been from Ashtabula. Greetings, My fourth great grandparents are Isaac Voorhees and Sabra Ann Mount Voorhees (her father, I think, was William Mount). Isaac died in 1832 in Clermont County. He owned property in Clermont County part of which was 30 acres bounded by 10-mile Creek and the Ohio River. Can anyone give me any history on either or both Isaac and Sabra Ann and/or their families? Thanks. Sue Anne B. Thompson
Most of these Jerseymen lived in eastern Batavia Twnsp-w Williamsburg twnsp,Clermont Co,but the Shumard's were north of Owensville. Somebody's has Mason-Winner, from the area of Greenbrier cemetary, or from adjoining the westrn-nw edge of modern East Fork State Park. Others lived in the park, north of Lake Harsha, and any houses that survivied were torn down in the early 1970's when the lake was built. Her other daughter Nellie m. Leo MCADAMS in 1901 (Williamsburg). Any info on Dove, her husband, and the offspring of SWEM and MCADAMS would be great. John - great to see someone else researching the Meekers. My husband's greatgrandfather, Robert Meeker, went from Ohio to LaPorte, Indiana. He listed Ohio as his place of birth on the 1850 census. He was born 1804. We think his father's name was Robert, also, and that he had a brother Daniel (a doctor in LaPorte) and sisters Sally and Pamelia and three other brothers (haven't got their names at hand just at the moment). If any of this strikes a chord for you - let me know and we'll investigate more fully. Looking for information on John and Isabel Wishard Craig. John Craig was born about 1798 in PA and Isabel Wishard about 1799 in VA according to the 1850 census. My husband is descended from their son, Robert A. Craig. He was born in Clermont County on November 7th 1826 or 28. All of his known brothers and sisters were born in Ohio; Matilda, William, Isabel E., John W., Margaret and Warren. They moved to Indiana sometime after Warren was born in 1845. They are in Perry Township, Clay County, Indiana in the 1850 census. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mary Beth Adams New Jersey
