I'm still looking for the ancestors of Robert J. Richards [born 8-11-1825 in Franklin tshp.(Felicity)] and married Bena (Philbene) Smith [born 1822 in Germany, imm. 1840]. His parents were John Richards[born about 1788 where unknown} and Anna Richards[ born 1796 Maryland, daughter of George Richards and Ann Penn]. Robert had sons J. Franklin (married Caddie Moore, Clermont native also) and Daniel S.,my grandfather, (married Alta Hawk). Can anyone identify this family, especially JOHN RICHARDS? Dee Franz
I have gotten some information on census data on a Jeremiah Dansberry (various spellings found for the name) and wife Charity Lewis. The 1850 census shows him born about 1804 in Pennsylvania married to Charity Lewis, born about 1806 in Ohio, possibly Clermont Co., married on 1/22/1824 in Clermont Co., Ohio. Four children were listed in the census as born to them: George M. born abt 1833, Jeremiah, Jr. born about 1837, Francis, born about 1841 and William, born about 1842. I am believing that the son George M. is my 2 great grandfather, married to Mary Case, and that his two brothers, Francis and William also married Case girls. I am hoping someone might have additional information on this Jeremiah and his wife, Charity. I am wondering where in Pennsylvania he may have been born, and if there is anything on his family, whether they migrated from the New Jersey area and were traveling through Pa. before settling in Clermont Co. I have found several lines in the NJ area, but have been unable to find any with a connection to Jeremiah. This branch of the family interests me, and I would love to find out more on his line. It definitely looks like this family may connect with the New Jersey families that migrated to Clermont Co., as he is found to be born in Pennsylvania, close enough to be a probable link to the NJ families. If anyone has anything on this family, is connected in anyway with his line, or knows of his ancestry, I would love to hear back from you. Have been corresponding with Wm Mennell, and he provided the census data, that appears to connect this Jeremiah with my George Dansberry married to Mary Case. Anything anyone can offer would be most appreciated. Thanks for any help, Holly Snead snead@qwestinternet.net
How would someone, presumably a mortician, preserve a body for shipment in 1842? My gggfather's brother, who lived in LaSalle county, IL, unexpectedly died on a visit to Clermont county, OH in 1842. His gravesite or record of burial has not been found either in OH or IL, but family tradition says his body was returned to IL for burial. Does this sound possible through embalming or, maybe, ice caskets that I have heard about? Richard Moore, ramoore@home.com
Karen, The CD I bought is for Montgomery County 1860. The images are the actual pages from the census. The hardest part of reading it is figuring out the names from the handwriting. I paid 19.95 for it. I think its a good deal since I am keeping the cd and not putting out money to rent it or make copies of the microfilm. They have them for all of the counties I am interested in. And Clermont is my next purchase. Which I will let the list know when I get the ones for the clermont area and will be happy to look up for you. As for now if anyone has an interest in Montgomery County let me know. I only have one for wards 1-5 I just ordered the other 2 and should get them by the end of the week. Beth
Hi List, Jerilyn (listowner) here, I have started a new job and I would like to give up managing the list as I won't have much time anymore. If anyone would like to take it over let me know. Theres not too much to it really....... Thanks, Jerilyn
Can anybody tell me if the "Woodville Christian Church" established in 1849, is still in existance? And if so, what is its location? G/G/G/Grandfather David Thompson, Sr., was the minister. His son, by the same name, was also a minister, but since he had removed to Highland County in 1842, we are led to believe it was the elder of the two. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Bob Slade added many photos and an atlas to the reprint version of Theiry and Mitchell'History of Clermont Co ,Oh" Page 160,in the rear ,is devoted to Public School No 9, Washington Township ,1909-1910 but I'm sure the pupils are from Brown Co,no Clermont. And went to Arnheim to church. Anna G Youkum,twacher- a Mr-Mrs Youkum of Ash Ridge and Cincy, were regular customers of ours. Pupils Freddie Botz: Harley Bohl: Agnest Ernest; Leonard Botz; Viddie Bohl": 'Philo Purcell: Carl Miller: Arvin Hauck: Clara Pfaehler":Jennings Hauck, Everett Hauck; Loyd Bohl [did he pull my tooth?;]Edith Bohrer: John Botz I wouldn't want to bet whether the class were taught in English,or in German. Probably, like us, when the world wars with Germany came along, many of above claimed to be Swiss. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Heritage Quest, if a member is only $14.95 per CD and sometimes specials are run from them. If you have a LOT of people from one area, they can be worth it. I have 1850,60,70,80 for Clermont. <A HREF="http://www.heritagequest.com/">HERITAGE QUEST - World's Largest Genealogy Source for U.S. Family Research</A> this link should take you there. However, Ancestry.com is to have all of it on line, they say, by March. I went ahead and subscribed with them. If you are already a member, the special rate for a year was $29.95. Of the two things I vigorously support to sponsor on the web, Rootsweb, and ancestry.com are my top priority. I will do lookups on my CD's IF you have the page number, but 1870 and 1880 aren't in the AIS index, so it will be spring before an index appears, I imagine. Dorothy

I've been reading a lot about the whole census coming out on CD. What was the name of the CD you purchased? Please keep us all posted on the quality, the region covered for the price, and whether you thought they were easy to use. Hi Everybody, Jerilyn (Listowner here). Im sorry that people have gotten off the track of what our list is for. So what, she, by mistake sent something to our list. NO BIG DEAL! Have fun, Jerilyn

heart@socket.net told me 15 years ago about Charles Hunt, 1802 at-near Locust Ridge Nursing home. I'm thinking he had ties to the Lambert's. And he had,1800,a bro,Levi Hunt s e of Bethel. Col Jonathan Hunt's younger sons,by his 3rd wife. Raised in the Eaton Baptist church of the Boone's and BRYAN'S,on the Yadkin,in NC, and brought up on tales of earliest Ky. Brother vs brother area in the Rev War, and Charles had,at least, one brother-in-law killed as a Loyalist. The bunch seem crude gunsmith's. Welded, not rifled barrel's. One of his nephew,Thomas Hunt's guns survivies within 3 miles. Anyway, Charles Hunt's sons married into the Shotwell's,and Colthar's. The bunch had NJ ties. And they moved on quicker than anybody else. To the Elkhorn,s Richmond, Indiana territory,on the Greenville Treaty line. Better hunting, or more Indian customers for their guns,or better lands. Something drove them quickly on. I know Daniel Teegarden,on the Pinkham farm west of Bantam, and a Doughty son-in-law went near Brookville,Franklin Co,I n terrirory, right on the Greenville line,in 1811, and Doughty did not survive a 1st winter's hunt. Any of you with a prayer to spare, heart@socket.net 's in a Mo hospital awaiting a heart transplant. He's expert on early Ky. HUNT-BREDWELL-COLLINS-DEEN-WILLIS his Bethel names. And my snail-mail pen pal of 15-20 years. Taught me much of what I've shared with you. ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! For the time being.....I've had it with the List101 stuff.
Especially to new people who do not know: 1. The list manager cannot control what gets posted initially. It is all automated. The most she/ he can do is remove a person from the list to stop further problems. 2. THE BIG ONE. Everything you post goes into the archives and will be there FOREVER. The attitude you present is how future people, when researching old postings, will see you. An oops, I shouldn't have said that, is committed. 3. Often, off the list reponses will be more successful for both you and the person to whom you are responding. And many praises to the wonderful group in Clermont and the huge amount of material they have passed on, via the internet, to those of us who live far away. Dorothy
I, too, flew off the handle and complained about the post just before Robin Poppy apologized. I did not, however, post my indignation to the entire list, just to Robin. Don't you think it might be good to address complaints just to the sender, or the list owner. I still had egg on my face, but at least I had not shared my pique with the entire list. Virginia

Of course, you have now shared your pique with the entire list <bg> ginger
