Greetings, David COLE married Martha LONG 7 January 1849 in Clermont. They lived in Union twonship in 1850, then apparently moved to Indiana. They were back in 1870, this time in Goshen Twp. Children were Francis, Levina, Carrie, Serna, Minerva, Emma, Marion and Lutitia. David Cole might have been born in Penssylvania in 1823. I'm seeking both David's and Martha's parents. Thanks. Hi list Looking for a HARRY family who lived in Clermont county between 1880 and 1890. Especially if they had a daughter or granddaughter, Myrtle b. abt 1888. Might possibly be Williamsburg. Maiden name of mother was Cornelia Izod. Anything would be appreciated as I cannot find a clue where Myrtle was born. Thanks for any possibilities. Joy in CT
Does any one know which tax records exist for Clermont County prior to 1816? From 1816 to 1838, Duplicate tax records exist, but what about prior to 1816? Also, whatever exists prior to 1816 apparently has not been microfilmed by the LDS Church. So, for these earlier records, where do the originals reside? John Charles Tippet johntippet@home.com
Fellow researchers: Please be advised that I have just posted a major update to my web page. Point your browser to: http://members.home.net/johntippet/ and click on Beckelhymer. Included with this update are the following items (all added to the Beckelhymer section of my web page): (1) I have completed the transcribing of the 1816 to 1826 Duplicate Tax Records for Clermont County, OH for Behymer and associated surnames. These include: Archer, Beckelhymer, Custer, Fitzpatrick, France, Gray, Huff, Kinsey, Littleton, Logan, Lower, McCord (Elias only), Mattox (Elijah only), Parvin, Picklesimer (there were none), Robb, Shultz, Tripp, Vail, and Waggoner. Note that for the years 1816 to 1825, the only taxes that were collected were for land. Starting in 1826, taxes were also collected for personal property. Thus, I have also posted the personal property tax list for the year 1826 for the above surnames. (2) I have also posted the 1821 to 1830 Duplicate Tax Records for Montgomery County, OH for Behymer and associated surnames. These include: Beckelhymer, Kinsey, Lower (there were none), Picklesimer (there were none), Rinker (there were none) and Stoner. As for Clermont County, the personal property tax list is also included for 1826 (when they started collecting taxes for horses and cows) through 1830. Note: I have not yet looked at the years 1816 to 1820, the first years the Duplicate Tax Records were kept. (3) I have completed the transcribing of the 1786 to 1821 Personal Property Tax Lists of Franklin County, VA for Behymer and associated surnames. These include: Archer, Beckelhymer, Beckett, Dillman, Fishburn, Harger, Kinsey, Landis, Lazena, Lemon, Logan, Phares, Picklesimer, Prator, Rinker, Trout, Waggoner, Wimmer and Young (Ridley only). This update adds the years 1804 to 1821 and also picks up a few additional entries for the earlier years that were not previously posted to my web page, primarily for the surname Harger, but also a few entries for Rinker, Fishburn, Lazena, Phares and Wimmer. (4) I have posted the Henry County, VA Tax Lists for 1778 to 1780 for the single Picklesimer entry. (5) I have posted the Franklin County marriage bonds for Behymer and associated surnames. These include: Beckelhymer, Beckett, Fishburn, France, Lazena, Lemon, Picklesimer and Waggoner. (6) I have added two new obituaries to the scanned images section of my web page. These are for William Behymer (son of Solomon) and William's wife, Martha Littleton. These obituaries were gratiously provided by Tom Robison. Thank you Tom! (7) I have added 6 new Behymer biographies to the scanned images section of my web page. These again are all courtesy of Tom Robison and are all for children of the William and Martha (Littleton) Behymer indicated above. These include: Andrew Jackson (3 separate bios), Franklin Pierce (aka Frank), John Oliver and Perry. Thanks again Tom! Enjoy! John Charles Tippet johntippet@home.com P.S. (preview of coming attractions) The next additions to my web page will be transcriptions of the following tax lists: Montgomery County, VA (land and personal property for Behymer and allied surnames); Garrard County, KY (personal property only) for Behymer and allied surnames; Orange County, VA (personal property only) for Lower and allied surnames; Botetourt County, VA (land taxes) for Behymer and allied surnames.

Anyone have any idea who the father of the John Conner mentioned here might have been? Walt Conner Bill Archerd wrote: > > Halstead Archard Conner, a physician of New Richmond, Ohio, the only son > of John and Eliza [Archard] Conner, > <snip>
I have just learned that my husband's ancestor Maryarter Sanders (b. abt 1799, d. 1856 Clermont Co., OH) obtained a "license to preach the Godspell" while a member of the Hickory Cove Baptist Church in Hawkins Co., TN. This was shortly before leaving Hawkins Co. (abt. 1840) and moving to Miami Twp., Clermont Co., OH. In his will he asked that he be buried in the Concord Church "burying ground." I think it possible that he was the minister of that church. Is there a repository in Ohio for Baptist Church records? Mary Lu Sanders marylus@earthlink.net
Hello, I am researching the family of GEORGE CASTLEN'S a long time resident of New Richmond, Ohio. George was born September 8, 1818 and died January 22, 1899. George was a businessman; he owned Castlen's Grocery located on the corner of Front and Quarry Street; Director of First National Bank of New Richmond for a while; and a member of the Cranston Presbyterian Church on New Richmond. He married JANE DANSON, March 8, 1838, and apparently her family was one of the first settlers in New Richmond,,,children were..Stephen, Sarah, Elizabeth, William, Thomas, and Andrew. George's second marriage was to CAROLINE OAKLEY. Most of what I have here was found in the History of Clermont County, Ohio by Bryon Williams. This is abut all I have on this family. I do know that there is a store currently in New Richmond called "CASTLEN HOUSE", does anyone know anything about this business or history. Any data on this family would be really appreciated.. Thanks, BRUCE CASTLEN
Halstead Archard Conner, a physician of New Richmond, Ohio, the only son of John and Eliza [Archard] Conner, married Daisy Castlen and they had no children [per the 1902 obituary for Jane Warren [Archard]]. There is a grave monument for Halstead in the Warren cemetery. Halstead would have been born around 1870 and so the marriage to Daisy would have been in the 1890's.
Does anyone know if there was a Quaker Meeting house in Clermont in the early days? If so, do any of their records remain? One of my brick walls is Samuel Walraven, b. 1769-1771 in Delaware. An early Clermont settler, Everts lists him as one of the eight supervisors of the original Twp. I just read on one of the surname boards that the Delaware Walravens were Quakers, which renews my hope of learning his parent's names. Thanks, Virginia --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
