Hi, Audra! I've lived in Hamilton for about 13 years now. Hope you enjoy your visit here. The Hamiltonian is a very nice 5(?) story facility next to the river. It is within walking distance of most of the facilities you will want to visit. The library (open 7 days/week) is about 4 blocks away, and has a very nice history room with plenty of microfilm to peruse--newspapers, census, etc. The Butler County Records Center (http://www.butlercountyohio.org/records/) is just a couple blocks up Third Street from the library--M-F hours. The Butler County Recorder's (http://www.butlercountyohio.org/recorder/) office is just a block from the hotel on High Street--NOT in the very impressive old courthouse, but on the hotel side of the street. The museum is between the library and the hotel--shame on me, but I've never been there. If you are here when it's open you should pay a visit to the Soldiers, Sailors & Pioneers Monument on Monument & High Streets (at the bridge) http://www.butlercountyohio.org/monument/. We also have a Welcome Center across from the Vet Museum--again, the hours vary. While the Hamiltonian has a very nice restaurant, we also have a couple "small-town" type places on High Street. My personal favorite is the Cozy Cafe--open Tues-Sunday for breakfast and lunch. There's also Ohio Lunch across the street from the Cozy and up about a block. Of course, we also have the chain restaurants across the river on the "West Side" and all the way through town. About 5-10 minutes from the hotel--cross the bridge and stay on Main. Hope this helps, and that your visit is fruitful!
