I suspect that his wife may be a niece of my gggf, whose Civil War diary contains the following entry on June 3, 1865: "Clear and warm all day. Went to Oxford. Remained at Hamilton three hours it is a beautiful town ten thousand inhabitants. Arrived at Oxford at 7PM. Stopped at Mr. Higgins who married my niece Sarah Rand".
