    1. August Otto Wiegand b. 1852
    2. My Butler County connection is ELIAS RUHL, b. 1812, in HERBSTEIN Germany. He emigrated in 1847 and married Sarah Meininger/Neininger in 1849; Old St. Stephens Church. He resided in Seven Mile, OH for a time. WIEGAND is a very common name in the Herbstein Church registers and I will look a my excel spreadsheets to see if I can find him. He may have been born in the US, as some of these townspeople/relatives came to Cincinnati/Louisville/Hamilton/Milhousen, IN, and beyond before 1852. I am at a brick wall with my ELIAS RUHL. I know he was a civil war veteran and died ca. December 31, 1867. My suspicion is he is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery or Old St. Stephen's portion of the Cemetery in an area devoid of headstones. His brother, Johannes Ruhl, b. 1823, has a very nice headstone in German. Another brother, Daniel, died in 1851. I have tried to find a newspaper obituary for this time frame in Hamilton and in the German papers in Cincinnati, without any luck. I haven't been very active with my genealogy hobby, but lately I have been pulled to resume my quest. I have been starting other lines. If you have a connection to HERBSTEIN and would like me to look for surnames and individuals, I am very willing to share my work. My microfilm transcriptions are not complete yet, but I have finished the marriage records of 1817-1875. Respectfully, Karen Gibson-Ruhl
