St. Stephen's Cemetery and St Mary's Cemetery are the only Catholic cemeteries located in the City of Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. St. Mary's is located in south Hamilton (Lindenwald) on Pleasant Avenue and is the newer of the two. St. Stephen Cemetery is located on Greenwood Avenue in Hamilton, Ohio. The "old" section is on the south side of Greenwood Avenue bordered on three sides by Greenwood Cemetery. Land for the newer section of St. Stephen Cemetery was purchased April 26, 1873. At that time it was decided to sell only individual graves in the old cemetery. Note: The old St. Mary, St. Stephen, and St. Veronica parishes merged to form St. Julie Billiart parish in 1989.
