    2. During that time, there was a cholora epidemic that cost a lot of local lives. Do yourself a favor and subscribe to rootsweb. One of our heroes is putting on a lot of information from the MEMOIRS OF THE MIAMI VALLEY, and there are a lot of excerpts from many other sources, such as the Butler County web site, that different people have contributed a lot of time to helping the rest of us discover how exciting our history was in these parts. Even an old codger like me is learning a lot, despite growing up here. Rootsweb doesn't even cost anything. There is specific information concerning West Middletown, Jacksonburg, Poasttown, and the whole of Madison Township as to their history and much information about specific people. Lane Library, in Hamilton, and the library in Oxford also do a lot of research that ends up helping us. You also might think about joining one of the two genealogy groups in Butler County. They both are able to help with information, and it just doesn't cost that much to be a member, even if you don't live around here. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mr & Mrs Don Garrison" <dongarr@oz-online.net> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 07, 2005 5:51 PM Subject: [OHBUTLER-L] Conditions in 1800's > Subscribers: > Is there anyone who would have any information of the conditions in Butler > Co. in 1830-1835?. 3. The online inventory from the 1960's of the Elk Creek Cemetery on Rt 122 in Madison Twp shows the following; GARRISON, Martin, b. 28 Apr 1800, d. 9 Oct 1834, age 34 yrs 8 mos 11 das. Ellen, b. 12 May 1842, d. 21 Aug 1843, dau of H. and P. Hannah b. 19 Aug 1796, d. 6 -Aug 1837, age 37 yrs 11 mos 13 das Maria b. 17 Dec 1777, d. 19 May 1817, age 39 yrs 4 mos 25 das. , dau of Conrad and Maria Girche Look at http://wwwrootsweb.com/~ohbutler/ in the cemeteries area to find the complete online listing of the Elk Creek Cemetery. I don't believe I have a picture of this tombstone at this time. I'll keep an eye out for the name when I get back to that cemetery. I believe Butler County did not keep death records til after 1850. If Martin Garrision did not leave a will there may not be any further information on his death. The Butler County Records office would have wills on file.
