Hi Sharon, You will be hard pressed to find obits back before 1900. Even then most have little info. Have you chccked the Clinton County History, I found a quite very helpful large right-up on one I was researching in Clinton Co IN. Hope you have as good of luck. Also check outside the direct line for cousins, in-laws etc. Check the available cemetery records. Find where his land was when he last lived. He likely buried nearby, maybe on the farm. Remember death records where not recorded in Indiana until 1882. Also check for wills, estates even land records. I checked the WPA death index but did not find either he or his wife.
