    1. RE: [OHBUTLER-L] Help with Nursing Home Question
    2. Hi Bob Ok, My great grandfather was Francis Marion EDDY...death cert says he was 61 years old in 1906 when he died. He was married to Missouri Ann ASH EDDY at the time of his death. I have no idea when or where they married or why they ended up in Cincinnati but he shows up for the first time in the Williams City Directory in 1891 and stays in it until he dies in 1906 when his widow Annie Eddy is listed for that year. Missouri didn't use her given name she went by Annie Eddy. She was born in Doddridge County, WV in 1867 to Abraham Ash and Elizabeth Kyle. Francis Marison died of TB in the City Hospital of Cincinnati. Annie must not have been around or was not allowed to be around as the hospital fills out his death record and he is buried in the Wesleyan Cemetery in an unmarked grave as FRANK EDDIE. The death cert says he was 61 years old and born in Ohio. His Last child was born 4 months after he died. He was a shoemaker, upholsterer and bag maker in the directories. His first child Henry was born in 1893 and died 7 months later My grandmother Eleanor aka Ruth Arabella Eddy was born Feb 1895 Mary Elizabeth was born Dec 1897 Grace Cramer was Dec 1899 William C. aka Isaac was born 1902 Frances Marian aka Alena F. was born May 1906 All children were born in Cincinnati. After Francis Marion died in 1906 Annie Ash put them in orphanages. My grandmother, Ruth, was more unruly than the others kept running away so she was put in the House of Refuge and taken out in 1911 by Minnie C. Stowe of Cincinnati to work in her house for food and schooling. She also lived as a servant at 15 for the head of Juvenile. They were all in the CINCINNATI CHILDRENS HOME for a time and that is where I got most of my information as to where they went and what their names were at the time. Grace Cramer Eddy was given to a family in Van Wert Ohio, the Emerlings she was placed there by H.D. Clarke of the Orphan Train head. Mary Elizabeth stayed in Bethany Home until she was sent for by her married sister, my grandmother in 1917. Isaac was placed by H.D. Clarke orphan train in the S.O. Davis family in West Virginia, Harrison or Lewis County can't remember which. Frances Marian aka Alena F. Eddy I don't know where she was for the most part of her life but she was placed in the Orient in Columbus in 1926, she would have been 20 years old at the time. I have no idea where she was from her birth until that time as my grandmother or my mother did not know she existed. My grandmother died not knowing about her or where Isaac was. My grandmother did find her sisters Grace and Mary Elizabeth and they did have a relationship as did they have with their mother Annie Ash Eddy. My grandmother lived for a time with Annie who later married an alcoholic James Andrews in 1912 and he died in 1913. Later she married Benjamin Morris, her last husband. She died in 1937. On the Cincinnati Childrens Home records under my grandmother's information it stated that paternal relatives were John and Charles with Bellaire Ohio written under their names. I searched census records for a family with John and Charles in the family and found Isaac Eddy b. 1822 and Amanda Johnson Eddy born 1822 in Harrison County, OH...they did have a son Francis also and he was born in 1852 or 1853 can't remember off hand. I am trying to make a better connection to this family and I know that the records for Alena will help because I have run out every other resouce I can think of. I have been working on this for 15 years. So, that is a pretty good summary of what I am up against.
