Beth, my vannatta family is also dutch from new jersey; i have come across the Laboyteaux surname in both butler county and hamilton county. my vannattas married runyans and runyans married the Laboyteaux line. Hamilton County exsisted before ohio became a state in 1803. Butler county did not exist until statehood in 1803 and butler county was carved out of hamilton county at that time. colerain township in hamilton county borders bulter county. if you would like to contact me off list, i would like to work together - i would like to know the reformed dutch church you referenced. i quickly looked for your marraige inquiry and did not locate it, but in searching the colerain township 1820 Federal Census i did find... Hamilton Co. Oh in the early to mid 1800's. I am looking at my Laboyteaux line, who arrived in 1801 after receiving land in the Northwest Territory related to their Rev. War service. I just found a book at my library that listed marriages in Ohio to 1820, and it lists an uncle of mine, Peter Labertaux who married Phebe Davis 26 Nov 1817 in Butler Co. I am looking for the marriage record for my ggg grandparents, John LaBoyteaux ( La Boyteaux, LaBoiteaux Labertaux etc) who married Elizabeth Montfort (Monford Montford) 6 Aug 1815. I have never found their marriage record in the Restored Court House records of Hamilton Co. So I need advice of where to look in Butler County to see if they were married there. Would there be church records? How do I find out what churces existed in 1815? They belonged to a Dutch Reformed Church in New Jersey before heading to Ohio. Was Butler Co. part of what is now Colerain Twp, in 1815? The info given for Peter and Phebe's marriage record was 00A 096. What I am really after is the parents of John Laboyteaux, my ggg grandfather, this is one of my brick walls. Thanks for any guidance.
