My Andrew Joice (Joyce) married Sarah Hawk in Butler Co in 1863. His gggrandfather, David, came from Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and he was part of the original Symmes Purchase Revolutionary War soldiers that settled this area around the early 1800's, right on the Great Miami River. I have a lot of blanks from a few of the offspring, but I have a fairly accurate (proven) listing of those who were in the lineage in the early 1800's. Many of the offspring had the wanderlust and moved west during the next 100 years. Ross (Venice) seems to be the burying place of the originals who stayed put. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack & Linda Dietz" <jdietz2@woh.rr.com> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 3:37 PM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] roll call - gast-burns-joyce-williams-scott > Hi Norma, Noticed the Joyce name, I have the following Joyce names in my > tree: > Andrew J Joyce who married Mary Vannatta their children were > Daisy, Charles, Earl Ambrose, Clinton & Bearle any connection? > Linda > JDIETZ2@woh.rr.com > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "by way of Norma Adams <njadams@cinci.rr.com>" > <genewill@sbcglobal.net> > To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 12:42 PM > Subject: [OHBUTLER-L] roll call - gast-burns-joyce-williams-scott > > >> Lancaster,Pennyslvania........ Next logical question seems to be.......who was your Andrew's parents? If he is a cousin, then I will probably have the information on the prior 2 to 3 generations, once we know his parents...........and can process him back to David (the Revolutionary). As an aside, one of the cousins of our not-so-distant past was Darrell Joyce, superintendent of schools at Fairfield (next to Hamilton). There is even a "Joyce Park" along the Great Miami River that was named after him, because of his ability to help his community. If we can provide the tie-in, I have a lot of cute little informational things for you from many different parts of the country on the Joyce line, plus a lot of proven lineage in this area. This family left a lot of positive footprints on this earth. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack & Linda Dietz" <jdietz2@woh.rr.com> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 01, 2005 1:25 PM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] roll call - gast-burns-joyce-williams-scott > Hi, > My Andrew born Dec 1853 married Mary Vannatta Dec 1877 in Butler Co.
