To Robert A. VanDyne: I've checked my files for info about Ira F. Hunt. The History and Biographical Cyclopedia of Butler County, Ohio, published in 1882, has a section on the history of Huntsville in Liberty Township. Ira Hunt and his sister Phoebe were "leading spirits" of the New Lights Church. The Church was built around 1831 or 1832. Hunt had a brick-yard and a mill. It says that he "moved West." I remember reading in a History of Champaign County that Ira Hunt organized a church there - near Shelby County. The History of Shelby County, Ohio, published in 1883, has a short bio of Heman R. Hunt. It says that he was born in 1819 and came to Shelby County in 1836 with his parents, Ira and Mary Hunt, who settled in this township where Ira Hunt died September 26, 1845. Mary died in 1855. Children of Ira Hunt were Justus T. Ira F. Phoebe D., Heman R., Eliza J., Nancy W. Mary E. and Rachel A. I have a copy of land sale in Shelby County to Catharine Fleming signed by Ira Hunt and his wife Mary Hunt.March 10, 1838. I also have a copy of a will abstract for Ira Hunt. But I don't have anything about Elizabeth Vanduyne. VanDyne: No, I am not a descendant of Ira Hunt, but I suspect (hope) that there was a relationship to my Fleming ancestors. They seem to have moved together, lived near each other, attended the same church, and sold land to each other. Perhaps we have a common ancestor further back. I will check my notes to see if I can find anything about Ira's wife. Margaret Wheaton OHBUTLER-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: Date: Fri, 1 Jul 2005 07:02:43 -0500 From: "Robert A. dear Margt. WHEATON; Thanks. Justus T. & Ira F. were of Elizabeth [Vanduyn] HUNTs before she died late 1814/early 1815. My ancestor Matthew Vandine,jr also in 1828/29 moved to Shelby Co,OH from Greene Co,OH. Lived in the NW part of Shelby ,then in the SW part of Shelby, unable to find him in the 1850 census [presumably died before then] I will have to look at my estate papers of Matthew Vanduyn,sr, on Justus & Ira HUNT to see if if gives where they were living in the early 1840s Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margaret Wheaton" <la33850@yahoo.com> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 13, 2005 6:04 PM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] Roll Call: Fleming, Greeley, Bothel, Hunt > > To Robert A.
