    1. Re: [OHGW] Susan Kendall (Preble Co.)
    2. Hi, all. The following message was posted to the OHGenWeb email list for county webmasters. Some of you may have had contact with Susan Kendall and/or her work. Mrs. Kendall's web site mentioned below, at _http://66.213.53.5/marriage/search.cfm_ (http://66.213.53.5/marriage/search.cfm) is a good resource for recent obituaries around Eaton, OH and might be useful to people on this list, too. The search is set up by surnames. Nancy Sween In a message dated 4/24/2005 9:06:11 PM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: This is not OHGenWeb business per se, but the news has the potential to affect genealogy in counties contiguous with Preble Co. On April 15 Susan Kendall and her husband Pat were in a motorcycle accident. Susan died from her massive head injuries April 22. Pat is still listed in serious condition, but is expected to survive. Susan Kendall was the county librarian for Preble Co. She was special in that she was an amateur genealogist herself, past president & charter member of the Darke Co. Genealogical Society, the lead person for an ill-fated USGenWeb site for Preble Co., administrator of the Preble Co. Discussion list at Rootsweb since 1996, and the chief architect of the Preble County Room of the local library where genelogical materials are stored, maintained, and served to the public. She was known to many as the greatest friend of genealogy in the area in a position to really make a difference for researchers and keeping documents available for researchers. Her crowning achievement was the establishment of a web site accessed by search engine of images taken from the official microfilms of court documents. The first phase has been devoted to the marriage records of the county so anyone can search those records (I haven't heard the latest date recently but I believe they go from 1808-1900+) and find an image of the actual marriage record on-line. Entry to that site is at http://66.213.53.5/marriage/search.cfm and there is a little introduction to the Project at the bottom of that page. A little memorial with photo has been posted at http://php.ucs.indiana.edu/~jetorres/dco.html An obituary has been posted at http://ohpreble.ohgenweb.net/index.htm#obit Her efforts for genealogy in west central Ohio will be very much missed. ==== OHGEN Mailing List ==== OHGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohgenweb
