On 27 December 2006, Mary Silva posted the following message to me on the Butler County Mailing List: >Message: 1 >Date: Wed, 27 Dec 2006 10:48:00 -0800 >From: "Mary Silva" <msilva@ccbh.mpowermail.com> >Dear Bob: >I am researching my family tree, and wondered if you might help give me some >advice? My ancestors, moved to Butler County, OH, about 1803 and lived >there until abt. 1817. I am trying to learn about them and a bit about >their lives. I do not know which township they lived in, or if they owned >property there. What are some of the ways I should be searching and what >records might I access? >Mary I am replying to the List as the procedures for obtaining the information Mary is requesting should be followed for all queries both to the List and to the Butler County Records Center and Archives, where all of Butler County's official records (except deeds and contemporary birth and death records are housed.) All requests must obtain the name(s) of the persons being researched, the type of record desired, e.g., births, marriages, deaths, wills, estates, etc. and a close approximation of the year of the event. The majority of our records are indexed first by year and then alpha within the year. Most important - you must also provide us with your name and complete mailing address as we do not send any records as attachments to e-mail. Your request may be sent to us via: E-MAIL bcarchives@butlercountyohio.org USPS Butler County Records Center and Archives 123 North Third St. Hamilton, OH 45011 ONLINE REQUEST FORM http://www.butlercountyohio.org/records We are not staffed to provide general research services and can only respond to requests for specifically identified records. If you need general research service, I would suggest that you post a query to this List or obtain the services of a professional researcher or one of the area genealogical societies.
