Does anyone have a list or even a speculation as to who was buried in the original Middletown Burial ground along a bluff of the Great Miami River? I am working on reconstructing a list of burials for this cemetery to have online with the Middletown Cemeteries. There is no indication from the Middletown Cemetery records that burials were moved from the "Riverside" burial grounds to the Middletown Cemetery. The Catharine Vail w/o a Stephen Vail, in the Middletown Cemetery, did not die in 1819 as generally reported but actually 1849- the stone is difficult to read but online genealogies reinforce this belief. I have tried to use online genealogies from rootsweb.com to try to track possible burials for this cemetery. Also note that the "Riverside" burial ground was "destroyed" by flooding well before the historic 1913 flooding. Supposedly there were many Revolutionary War Veterans buried in the "Riverside" burial ground as the Middletown Cemetery is the resting place for only 2 Rev. War Vets Any help/ speculation would be appreciated. thanks- Caroline Huppi www.rootsweb.com/~ohmidcem www.rootsweb.com/~ohbutcem
