    2. Hi Mark, I've been searching the Round family since I retired in `1990. Between myself and other researchers, I came across an Indenture in Butler Co. land records dated 1811. It was signed by Jacob Rund/Round and 3 of his sons. All of his living children were mentioned. The same records showed that he and Andreas Round signed up for the Symmes Purvhase in 1791. Some of our researchers believed that the Jacob in Butler Co., Ohio was the Jacob Row or Rowand that married a Prudence Maroe in Phila in 1772. This seemed to be backed by a Rowen(Round) tradition that Jacob came to America at age 18 and married an English lady. Andrew Round became Andrew Rowen in the 1830s. My 3rd great grandfather, Philip Round, son of Jacob, was shown as Rowan, Rownd as well as Round. He was born in 1770, before Prudence married Jacob Rowand. Catherine Round and Elizabeth werealso born before 1772. I had found a Jacob Round in " History of Westmoreland and Indiana Cos." who signed a petition near Hannastown on the Loyalhanna, requesting assistance from Gov Penn to help defend the town from Indian attacks, written in 1774. I received help from a decendent of " the Schraders, Hokes, and Colmers as Elizabeth Round/Rowen had married Aaron Shrader. son of William Schrader in Mt Pleasant, Westmoreland Co.. Also, Jacob Round had signed another petition in 1784 on behalf of William Schrader, which later became the first test of the newly written ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION. We later found birth dates and baptismal records of all the children that were born after 1772 in the Westmoreland Co, Reformed Evanglical Lutheran Church 1772-1791, I think it was put together by a Peter Ruff. Another family member who was also sceptical, then found the marriage and birth records of Jacob in Germany. These records were obtained through correspondence with German Genealogists, I think. The Reformed Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dackenheim, Pfalz=Bayern had his parents, wife and parents, as well as births. Jacob had married Anna Magdalena Staehler in 1763. They cames to Westmoreland Co. abt. 1764/65. He had a son, Christopher, who was ambushed by Indians as a teen ager. Jacob left PA abt. 1788/90 and stayed in a fort in Hamilton Co. ( Ft Washington) and farmed during day time. He died at age of 84 in Butler Co. (abt 1822). His wife Anna, is believed to have died in Westmoreland Co. My 3rd great grandfather, Philip had been a scout/spy in the army from 1790 to 1794. He was later in the militia in war of 1812, serving twice on active duty. ( either in Ind ,KY, or Ohio.) My 2nd great grandfather, Ezra Round, was born in Butler Co., Ohio. Chas. PS If you can get a researcher to go thru land and church records, a lot can be found.ALSO, The spelling is a problem. I found on Daniel Round's probate in Fountain Co., Indiana, that his sur-name was spelled 5 diff. ways on one legal sized paper ( Round, Rownd,Rown,Rowan, Rowen,Rounds) ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
