> The Woodsdale/Augspurger Mill on Wayne-Madison Rd., Woodsdale, Madison > Twp., Butler County was torn down this past week. As of right now all > that remains is the basement/foundation. It would have been in the > way of a new, straighter, proposed bridge over the Great Miami River. > Maybe the bridge project is about to begin? >> Is Augspurger correct spelling be Augsburger? > According to the Butler Co., online map by the County Engineer's > office, > Larry's spelling is correct for the road. > Here's more proof of the spelling, some history to pay homage to the old bridge, and also a reference to my G-Grandfather during the 1913 flood. Any more info on James H. Harmon would be appreciated. Rita Harmon Elkins http://www.middle-america.org/crout/Madison/woodsdle.html 1913: "Woodsdale was hard hit by the flood, which covered the intersection of Augspurger and Wayne-Madison Roads. A new iron bridge across the Great Miami collapsed. It and roads around Woodsdale had to be rebuilt. The flood swept into the side of the old Samuel Augspurger house, then the home of the James Harmon family, gutting the right end. Several paper mill worker's homes were washed away, as were many others."
