Sorry for the mass email not enough time to send a letter out on this. The Butler County Chapter of OGS Middletown will have its March meeting this Saturday March 10 beginning at 10:00 AM in the Community Room at Middletown library on Broad Street in Middletown. This is to be our Planning meeting for the 30th Anniversary Event in June. However the first 30 to 45 minutes of this meeting will be a presentation by Bob Young and then discussion on the events that are surrounding Dicks Creek Cemetery on Union Road. I hope that the Genealogy Society will get behind the fight to make sure that this Cemetery is not destroyed by the widening of Union Road. Please plan to attend this Meeting and hear what is going on. Send me an email to let me know if you plan to attend so I can plan accordingly to the refreshments. If he was naturalized in Butler County, the records will be in the Butler County Records Center and Archives, 123 North Third St., Hamilton, OH 45011. There will not be a separate record for the wife as she automatically became a citizen when her husband was naturalized. If the son was a minor, he also became a citizen without further ado. If not, he possibly became a citizen as the result of his service in the Civil War. However, he would have had to file a separate request in order to do so. Send your request to: bcarchives@butlercountyohio.org In the request, include your full name and mailing address as all records are sent via USPS only. Naturalization records are held at the Butler County Records Center. In the early years, naturalizations were granted in different courts. We have them in Common Pleas Court books, in the Alien's Record book and in Naturalization books. You probably won't find a paper for Mary Koch, as most women were not naturalized, they automatically became citizens if their husbands were naturalized. As for the son Andrew, after the Civil War broke out, a law was passed that anyone who served, could take their discharge papers to court and they were automatically granted citizenship. This still holds true today, anyone who is not an American citizen who fights in the war, can receive automatic citizenship. Hope that this helps. He and his first wife, Mattie Denny, apparently separated at least up until her father's will was probated in 1927. I located him in Kentucky in 1900 (still with Mattie) and in 1910 (living with an uncle, John claims to be a widow). But after that, I had no clue until Mattie's father's will showed up. At the probate of the will, Mattie is living in Kentucky and John is living in Hamilton, Ohio. They both had to appear and attest, which they did. I'm not sure when they divorced. One of their sons, Moss Prueitt, also lived out his life in Hamilton. I have the info on him though. The name has variated in spelling from Prewitt to Pruitt to Prueitt. On the census for Hamilton, it's spelled Prueitt. He moved to Hamilton, is enumerated on the 1920 and 1930 census with his second wife Jennie (don't know her last name). SPECIFICALLY, I am looking for the parents names for John D. Prueitt. Bob, In rereading your reply, I see that you show Philip as the only white male in the 1807 list. Were there any females listed for him or Jacob ? s it possible that I could pay you or someone you recommend to do some further research on my family ? Philip was in the army from 1790 - 1794. He was in 1800 census for Northwest Territory ( now Washington Co., Ohio). Andrew, a son named after Philip's brother, was born in 1799, and died in Richland Twsp, Fountain Co. in 1841 and I have a copy of his grave marker in Salem cemetary. I know that Jacob Sr. had 106 acres on the Miami River in Symmes Purchase, which was devided up between his sons Andrew, Daniel, and Jacob Jr. Jacob Jr. died there in 1819 and Andrew sold his to a Clark, while Daniel sold his to a Shrader who was married to Jacob's son-in-law married to Elizabeth Round. Both Elizabeth and Aareon Shrader died in Butler Co. in 1826. The Round family came out of Westmoreland Co., PA to settle in Hamilton Co. , living in the Fort by night and farming their land by day due to Indian attacks. One of Jacob's children ( believed to be Christopher, was killed in an Indian ambush while his younger brother, Andrew swam to safety) While in PA., Jacob and Anna Round belonged to the Reformed Evangelical Luthern Church, where their children were born and baptised. While in Westmoreland Co., PA , Jacob RĂ¼nd/Round signed petitions in 1774 to Gov. Penn while living near Hannastown. He also signed a petition on behalf of his friend William Schrader which later became the first test of the then newly written ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION. He signed this in 1784. His daughter Elizabeth Round/Rowen, married William's son Aaron Shrader abt 1788. I have a lot more on the Round family; but there are a lot of loose ends too :o). Andrew Rowen/Round's son Philip David Round was a calvary man in the Illinois battle with the Indians and Mexican War. Both he and his uncle Philip, were good with Horses. This Round family has been written up as Rowan, Rowen,Rown,Rownd and some children kept their new names while others kept the Round name. Also, would love to find the cemetary sites in Butler Co. for Jacob Round Sr, died 1822, Jacob Round/Rowan Jr., died 1819, Aaron and Elizabeth Shrader, died 1826. Charles Round. My email address is listed on copy above. Charles Round
