Additional Information: I don't know how Robert CODDINGTON and Mary CODDINGTON (both mentioned below) are related to Robert CODDINGTON b 21 December 1791, who married 26 July 1832 Butler Co., OH to Isabella SINKEY. Isabella was daughter of John SINKEY (1773-1814) (mentioned below) and Mary (SHIELDS) SINKEY-FREEMAN (who married 2nd a George FREEMAN). Mary (SHIELDS) SINKEY-FREEMAN was an Irish immigrant ca (1790) along with her parents (Daniel SHIELDS & Mary) and brothers. John SINKEY and Isabella SHIELDS were the parents of Daniel, James, Charlotte, Isabella, Elizabeth, John Jr., and Jane. I do not know what happened to the SINKEY family, nor where Mary (SHIELDS) SINKEY-FREEMAN is buried. Daniel SHIELDS, wife, accompanied by some of their sons removed from Butler Co., OH to Preble Co., OH where Daniel & Mary died. Amanda Cemetery is a tiny little cemetery behind a chain link fence sitting along Rt 4 between Middletown and Hamilton. (Rt 4 follows what was once the Miami-Erie Canal) Amanda was a small village located on what is now Oxford-State Road. You can still reach the cemetery by following a road from Oxford-State to the cemetery. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Small Business - Try our new Resources site!

I have relatives who have fought in previous wars, I do not have that list handy. I am 42 yrs old and I am just now getting into my genealogy. I just want to say "THANK YOU" to each and every veteran and to those families that have had to suffer the lose of a loved one/friends. Also, to all the families who have had to patiently wait for their loved ones to return. Vets you are the best and there are MANY people who appreciate all you have done for our country. I am proud to be an American and proud to have had so many brave men and women fight for my life here in America and let me enjoy this great country and our freedom. Karla (Columbus, Ohio)
BlankAgain this year I was part of the Middletown Memorial Day Parade, being a committee member, and one who drove the Grand Marshall for the Parade Robert Hale Chaplain for the Miami Valley Post 3809 of the VFW. Although it was wet and raining today, as I drove down Verity Parkway behind the American Legion Honor Guard, and the Veterans who were walking in the rain, I could hear the crowds on the sides of the road applauding these Veterans for their Service to their Country. What a wonderful sound this is. Each year I participate in this parade and I am proud and I honor all the Veterans who have served, are still serving, and those who have passed on. I especially honor my father Kenneth E Young USAF Korea, my Great Great Grandfather Francis Malott Civil War and Thomas Young Civil War, George W Long Civil War. I also honor my adopted POW/MIA's Daniel Everett Singleton USAF Akron Ohio, Russell Keith Utley USAF California. Deb Morrison
I would like to pay tribute to My nephew,Stephen Round who served with the 24th in Gulf Storm, and in Iraq training troops, several of my uncles in WW2 and cousins in WW2, my uncle Charles and my father in law in WW1, my ggrandfather,John DickinsoRound, my gguncle William Perry Round, and numerous cousins who fought with Kansas volunteers and Indiana volunteers for the North, My ggrandfather Johnson who fought for the South. , my gggreat uncle who fought at Tippecane and in Mexican war, my ggggrand fathers, who were in war of 1812, and my gggggreat grandfather and other relations in the Revolutionary war. I was in the forgotten war, Korean war. Chas.

It's interesting. My husband spent 20 yrs in the Army. Five tours in Korea, one on Nam, several more in Germany, Panama and so forth. He was out of our country so long at one point that he lost his citizenship. Did anyone know that's possible for a G.I.? It is. Yet, Mike too says, "I don't matter." I disagree with both Mike and Hawkman. I owe my freedom, life and happiness to them. Some of us DO know it. Amanda Cemetery- People tend to forget that the monuments in cemeteries remain the responsibility of the families. There are no taxes collected for cemeteries and townships get little to no funding to mow the cemeteries. If you want something done about a veterans marker for Ebenezer Manche you need to get the recordsand get the paperwork done to get the stone. Then funds needs to be aquired to set the stone. In general foundations for cemetery markers are inadequate. Tombstones will sink into the ground and shift on the weak 6" foundation. You can hire people to correct this. Blaming the township for mowing damage does not get the stones upright or in the cemetery. Mowing just looks like someone to blame for inadequate monument maintenance and foundations. Amanda Cemetery is "Poor" because people let it be poor by inaction and labeling it as a "Paupers" cemetery. The Family members of the Griffis and Woodmansee's are funding preservation of the Woodmansee Sugar Valley cemetery. However no local family members have time to do anything. The way one's family members spend their time is their choice. and the choices being made through out Butler County and the country is that the cemeteries are not worth their time, money or effort. Sad but true. If you have relatives in a cemetery take charge and get something done. Go look at Greenwood cemetery and see how many down markers there are. Greenwood does not "fix" tombstones! The old cemeteries are no difference that the 250 ish Indian Mounds in Butler County- Farmed, Paved and turned into Subdivisions. It's a Choice. No, I didn't go to Taft or Harding, but my youngest sister did. In fact, I think she graduated from Taft in 1963. Her name was Mary Dill. I graduated from Vicksburg High School in Vicksburg, Michigan, in 1955. My dad moved around a lot [smile]. I was just curious about Donald and Mary Pearson in Hamilton, Ohio, because after their son and I divorced in 1968, I never heard from or saw them again. I always liked them and they were good to me. I am not doing any genealogy on them as I am working on my dad's side of the family ... the Dill's from New Baltimore, Hamilton County, OH. Thanks so much for responding.
