Thank you to those of you who shared your support for Ancestry.com. I would LOVE to have it at home. I can access it from the church I go to, but, that is limited to the hours the history center is open. I agree with what someone said about maybe only needing it only for a year or so and milking it for all its worth. I am just beginning to my research so there is sooo much to learn. Thanks again! Karla

Does any one know the location of Union Memorial cemetery? I think my great grandfather's wife might have been buried there. Catherine Becker Reeb and their son Franklin Reeb. Catherine I believed died in 1861 and Franklin died in June 1860. Thanks Joyce
In 2004 the house at 5173 Yankee Road, built by William Webster in 1823 was torn down. According to the Monroe/ Union-Liberty Journal in 1976, William Webster came to Liberty Twp in 1804 from New Jesery and bought 200 acres of land. Ten acres were cleared off for a homesite and William Webster's family came to the area in 1806. The log cabin on the land was replaced by a brick load bearing wall flemish bond house. The brick was mad from local clay and "burned on the land." William Webster is supposed to buried in nearby Mound Cemetery in Monroe. The interior of the building had 8 rooms with a 2 room cellar below and attic above. The woodwok was solid walnut and the floors from oak. The house had 5 fireplaces. The Webster house was a part of the 1986 "First Annual meeting of CHAPS." In 1986 an historic survey was done in Liberty Township financially supported by CHAPS. The Webster house was described on an OHIO Historic Inventory- BUT-1129-13 onfile with the Ohio Historical Society. Webster was descrived as a New Jersey Native who built the house around 1823 as the house has bricks forming an 1823 date and the initials WW on the North end gable peak. Webster was described as a farmer but also operated a tannery on Yankee road near Huntsville (South of the residence). The Historic Inventory also describe with ohotographs the outbuildings including a corn crib, barn, silo and privy. The house had owners including the Pattersons, Benders and Pauls. I have digital photographs of this house and hope to find/ photograph William Webster's (and family?) tombstone in Mound Cemetery. Please email me should you be interested in the digital images. Perhaps these photos will be online related to "historic" Liberty Township or images from Mound Cemetery tombstones. I have noted inquireies into William Webster parents and thought others might be interested in this information. Caroline Huppi- 7/2005
It's been worth the cost for me, but I have 3 family sites at My Family, and do research for others. I might be wrong, but I think you can get a trial subscription and cancel after 2 wks. if you don't want to continue. ----- Original Message ----- From: <L1011Jet@aol.com> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 08, 2005 11:50 AM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] Ancestry.com > > I am finding that out. Would SKS please do a look up for any WILLS surname in the Butler Co. area? My 3rd. great grandfather was Jonathan WILLS who was married to Hannah DOUGLAS. They had two known children. One was a daughter who died either at birth or as a young child. Then a son, Charles who was born circa 1830 in Middletown Ohio which I understand is in Butler Co. I am trying to find out if Jonathan's parents were in Butler Co. in the early 1800's. Kind regards, Sharon sar5r@yahoo.com "One Nation Under God" --------------------------------- Sell on Yahoo! Karla, It's worth it but you may not need it for more then a year. You can milk all of the census sites, etc in that time so after that if you don't want the expense you can just keep your Tree on RootsWeb.com. Re. Ancestry.com, you can go to any LDS Genealogical Library; all have Ancestry.com where you can use it free. In my area, all copies made from the computer directly are .05/page; copies made at the other xerox copier (like from books are .15/copy). W/Ancestry.com, you don't have to subscribe to the entire package, if you don't think you'd use it all. I have subscribed to just the census portion that I use A LOT! It costs like $40 for 3 months. That is certainly worth it for me! Pavla
Karla Columbus Library also has Heritage Quest. Anyone in Ohio can get a card to access it. They don't have the complete 1930 census up yet. You don't have to go to the library to use it. You can sit in the comfort of your home Go to (_www.columbuslibrary.org_ (http://www.columbuslibrary.org) ) and apply for a card. Then after you get it click on Electronic Resources it will take you to a page where you can choose Heritage Quest. Milly Piros*Garfield Heights I have been to the end of the Earth. I am finding that out. I belong to the Columbus Library and they have something that is like Ancestry, or it is ancestry.com. I haven't had a chance to access it yet. They told me I can use it at any library branch, but you have to be accessing it from the library. The copies at the library are .25 cents a copy, much steeper than .05 cents at your local FHC. I am finding out, just about anything that you really need a copy of will cost you something. Sometimes you wonder if purchasing ancestry.com would be worth it? I am sure many of you have it, is it worth 199.99 a year? If you are asking me which Daugherty line of I am researching, it is Patick Daugherty of Ireland and Margaret Gaffney Daugherty. Both were born during the early 1820's and came over from Roscommon Ireland around 1844 or so. They settled in Boston Mass where Catherine Daugherty was born . They came to Butler County around 1850 and farmed near Oxford OHio for many years.
