Would anyone know which streets in Hamilton, Ohio, were included in the 2nd Ward census for 1870? I am trying to figure out how my gggrandmother, Susan Chrisman, knew the other people in the house she was living in at that time. Susan was 78 years old, at home and retired. Thanks for any help, Barbara in Indianapolis Barbara

Diane, this isn't much either, but Martha Anetta (SKILES) KELLY, (twin) 1842 OH - 1879 IN, married Joseph Kelly (1837 WV - 1915 IN) Martha was a daughter of Isaac and Jane (George) Skiles of Butler Co OH and later of Indiana. Diane, On the 1810 Butler Co. Tax list, there is a George Kelly, a Joseph Kelly, and an Oliver Kelley. I looked up Harrison Kelly on the 1850 census and one of his sons was named Oliver. Hi all, This is probably the last reminder about the Work in the Woodmansee Cemetery. Oct 1 and Oct 15, 2005; 8am-12PM. Honeysuckle and stump removal is slow and tedius but a necessary evil. Efforts to uncover and right footstones continues as well. There is enough work for everyone. Bring a shovel, trowels, clippers, water and dress for the weather. for Road access see http://www.rootweb.com/~ohbutcem/ following to Liberty Township and Woodmansee Cemetery. Reminders about next years work schedule will be out in April 2006. Thank-you all for spreading the word and coming out to work. Hopefully the trees that took out the mausoleum for James Woodmansee (1814-1887) will be removed this winter to prepare for work next spring. Efforts are being made to establish what the mausoleum looked like before it fell. Jennifer Brashear, a local artist may be able to render an image from the findings around the mausoleum. It is hoped that such an image will be used in a brochure being developed on the cemetery. The grass seed spread Sept 17 is already up and will hopefully reduce the spread of honeysuckle and poison ivy. The area at least looks tended and the tombstones are visable that is quite an improvement. Caroline Huppi 513.779.8740

Here in Butler County we have some limited reports that were gathered for 1856/1857 by the tax assessors. Copies of the birth records through 19 December 1908 are available from the Butler County Records Center and Archives, 123 North Third St., Hamilton, OH 45011. You can also e-mail your request to: _bcarchives@butlercountyohio.org_ (mailto:bcarchives@butlercountyohio.org) Make sure you provide us with a return mailing address as we do not transmit records via e-mail. The cost is five cents per page, with the first five copies free. To this is added mailing costs. It should be noted that birth records from 20 December 1908 to the present day are available only from the Ohio Department of Health or the health department covering the area where the birth took place. They are VERY expensive. By state law, only certified copies can be provided and the average cost is around $15. Bob McMaken Volunteer Genealogist Butler County Records Center and Archives

Hi all Just a reminder about another work day at the Woodmansee Cemetery. We'll probably stop work at the end of October and start again next spring- 2006. Dates are the 1st and 3 rd Sat of the month. Last outing Israel Miley's tombstone was found and pieces to Asher? Steele's. Always something interesting. Ground needs to be prepared for grass seed. We hope to get the grass seed down as well as covered with straw. Honeysuckle continues to be fought. Hopefully the grass seed will keep future honeysuckle out. As usual come with water, bug protection, and ready to watch for poison ivy. Visit http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohbutcem/ Lliberty Township, Woodmansee cemetery to view the progress and inventory information. Site has a map to the cemetery with updated streets identified. I can be reached at 513-779-8740 for questions Caroline Huppi
