    1. Hamilton High School Yearbooks
    2. Bette McIntosh
    3. Greetings List Members, Like Barbara I too would be interested in old Hamilton (Butler Co) High School Yearbooks. In my case, I would like class photographs dating from about 1893-1900. Does anyone have such keepsakes in their possession or have access to this type of material? Thank you, Bette > Hello Listers! > > Would anyone have access to the old Hamilton High School yearbooks > between 1922 and 1927, or know where I might find them?

    3. Hello Listers! Would anyone have access to the old Hamilton High School yearbooks between 1922 and 1927, or know where I might find them? I would love to see pictures of my mother and father when they were in high school. They both passed away 35 and 36 years ago and I do not have any old pictures of them. My mother was Alma E. Dwinell and she graduated in either 1926 or 1927. My father was Faye L. Dill and he graduated in either 1922 or 1923. I cannot be more exact on which years, as I do not know how old they were when they graduated. Thank you for any help or direction on where to find these. Barbara (nee Dill) Noble Indianapolis, IN

    1. William Butler of Hamilton, Butler Co., OH died 3/25/1850. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
    2. Charles R. Heath II
    3. Does anyone know anything about William Butler, born in VA 5/11/1779, died in Hamilton, Butler Co., OH 3/25/1850 aged 70 years with "kindred" or a relative named William F. Butler. This came from "Greenwood Cemetery Interrments 1848-1851" author unknown, but is posted at <http://www.angelfire.com/oh4/tangledwoods/greenwoodcemetery1.html> Below is the entry: 178. William Butler - Place of Birth - Virginia - Late Residence - Country - Date of Birth - May 11, 1779 - Date of Death - March 25, 1850 - Date of Interment - March 27, 1850 - Cause - Inflammation Head - Kindred - William E. Butler - No of section - 70 years - No of Lot - 90? - Undertaker - Delaplanes - Remarks I am thinking he might be the brother of Nancy Butler who married Hugh Henderson Hall. Originally of Loudoun Co. VA., they came to Springfield Twp., Hamilton Co., OH and Fairfield Twp., Butler Co., OH about 1811 from Fayette Co., PA. Another sister named Fanny Butler, a single person, died in 1822 and her will was probated 6 May 1822 in Hamilton Co., OH Bk 5, pg 266. The will mentions her father (Capt. Joseph Butler), but not by name, and names her brothers and sisters, Nancy Hall, Kitty Carrico, Millie Carrico, Elizabeth McKerney, William Butler and Joseph Butler, Jun'r. Charles R. Heath II Sharonville, OH

    3. Your help will be greatly appreciated. The more people who do something close to home the more likely all of Butler County can be represented. Your ideas for a big picture of Butler County History is a great one. I also think that the Web is the only way to get to the younger generation. With The Cyclopedia online and the tombstones online you have a good start for 4th graders in Ohio History. I haven't found a way to get teachers interested but I hope someday to get the schools aware of what is in their back yards. Every place has value and an interesting history it just has to be presented in coheshive bites to tempt the pallet. Anyone else interested in working on a cemetery in your back yard please feel free to contact me at; chuppi@cinci.rr.com Caroline Huppi ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gene Williams" <genewill@sbcglobal.net> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2005 9:30 PM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] Iutzi > I am willing to do this, but I will not be able to get it accomplished until > income tax time is over.....hence, I will not be starting on this project > until May.......but pretty much the same goal that I have, seems to be the > goal that you have set for yourself. 3. I am willing to do this, but I will not be able to get it accomplished until income tax time is over.....hence, I will not be starting on this project until May.......but pretty much the same goal that I have, seems to be the goal that you have set for yourself. Actually, one of the asides that I can forsee happening is a gleaning of many photos from both the present and the past that will help us eventually accomplish a photographic map of this and other cemeteries that will be available at various historical societies, libraries, cemeteries, and museums in the area, with the data available to help those who are searching. I figure that one of the positives of this adventure is being able to correct any misinformation that happens due to misreading and/or misplacing dates, names, and other pertinent info that may be out there. An extra benefit is the possibility of replacing in its proper place any headstones and monuments that have removed from their original setting............if we are able to gather old photos and/or letters-information into a central identifying station and being able to take things back as far as we can into its original situation. I am involved with the Monroe Historical Society, Butler County Genealogical Society, and a native of Shandon, so I do have ulterior motives for following this path. I am also hoping to be able to help establish a reason for younger people to start looking at the past, in order to understand their future. Also, notice the change in my address. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Caroline Huppi" <chuppi@cinci.rr.com> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2005 3:46 PM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] Iutzi > Gene- > > If you are planning to take photos of the tombstones at Mound Cemetery- > would you be willing to do the typing work to get those photos online? 3. Gene- If you are planning to take photos of the tombstones at Mound Cemetery- would you be willing to do the typing work to get those photos online? I have more than 200 photos from that cemetery and from Pleasant Hill Cemetery North of Monroe. The problem is getting the time to create the tables, links and transcribing the photos. I would certainly be willing to post anything you might create on http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohbutcem/ I continue to work on the Middletown Cemetery and the Calvary Catholic Cem in Middletown but have basically completed all of Liberty Townships Cemeteries- (corrrections still needed). Any help in getting more Butler County material online would be greatly appreciated by many people throughout the US. 3. The Mound was originally an Indian burial site.....in time becoming a burial site for white settlers. It is located just south of the downtown area of Monroe, the entrance being on the east side of Cincinnati-Dayton Road. It was the original cemetery for Monroe. A lot of the families that settled this area are buried there, and it is still being used as an active burial site. More info can be found at the Monroe Historical Society Museum, the Main Street Monroe website, and the Butler County, Ohio website. I never knew Nancy, but Marie Iutzi, from Hamilton, was a close friend of my sister and my mother. She used to visit us in Shandon quite a bit. I really don't have any more info on them. I can possibly check on the grave site at Mound. I live across the street from that cemetery. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Robertson" <trobertson1@cinci.rr.com> To: <OHBUTLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 09, 2005 9:40 PM Subject: Re: [OHBUTLER-L] Iutzi > Deb........which cemetery is the Mound Cemetery in Monroe? 1. Amish in Butler Co. - Augspurger, Maurer
    2. Rita Elkins
    3. This is so coincidental I felt I had to share it. While talking to my husband this morning in his "den," I noticed a book on his shelves titled, "The Mennonites in Iowa," so since I've only just this Summer taken an interest in genealogy, I opened it up to glance at what it had to offer. Wouldn't you know it that I opened to a page about a colony established in Butler County in 1819 by Christian Augspurger and five (unnamed) families from Alsace! Also on this page it mentioned that Peter Maurer was the first member of the Amish faith to come to Ilinois after migrating two years earlier from Alsace to Butler County. I flipped to another page and read, "For instance, Christian Augspurger, an ancestor of Davis County Mennonites, living on a farm of one of Napoleon's spies, set such high standards of agriculture that this farm became the model which was visited by many of the officials of that country. Later Napoleon awarded Augspurger the medal of the Legion of Honor for his service in the field of agriculture." Neither of us has read this book, have Mennonites in our family that we know of, or relatives in Iowa. The book by Melvin Gingerich marked the 100th anniversary of the coming of the Mennonites to Iowa, published in 1939 by the State Historical Society of Iowa. I'll read it now and if someone is interested in buying it, let me know. Rita

    3. If you are an Ancestry.com member, it appears you can view the book The Centennial Anniversary of the City of Hamilton, Ohio there. I don't have an Ancestry.com membership, but I did a Google of the book's title and came up with this addy: http://content.ancestry.com/iexec/?dbid=22343&htx=BookList&ti=0 For those without Ancestry.com access, Lane Public Library has previously scanned the portion of the book that talks about various Hamilton business institutions [not the smaller local establishments, but those whose manufactured goods were shipped to other states and countries] http://www.lanepl.org/hamilton_businesses.htm These business vignettes usually give the names and background of the man or men who started the company and a mention of the chief executives of that business. Also talked about are those who took over if the business changed hands.
