    3. No, not yet. Still slowly working on it. [ha! ha!] I need to find some vital records to back up what I've found so far, before I go any further. That's my stumbling block ... finding the documents. Barb Norma Adams <njadams@cinci.rr.com> wrote: Hi Barbara, Yes, you did reply to the message I sent. And you're welcome! 3. Your analogy of these records are just what Gale Wallen (another researcher on Charles Dill in Illinois) and I have deduced. I was trying to find more information on Margaret Dill today, like who she married, when she died, etc., but I don't have access to census records. I suspect that either Margaret had Charles out of wedlock (since she was old enough) or Matthew had gotten some girl pregnant and his mother adopted the boy. Yes, we need to find some birth and/or marriage records, I guess. Any ideas of where to start, Ann? Appreciate your help immensely, Barbara in Indiana Ann Trimmer <ann@trimmer.net> wrote: If you use the 1850 Green Twp, Hamilton Co census with John D Dill 44 Ann 39 Cort A 15 Margt 13 Mathew 11 Elias F 7 and the one I just found 1860 Crosby Twp, Hamilton Co OH p452 Mathew Dill 21 Famer OH Anna Dill 47 House work OH Margaret Dill 23 House work OH Elias Dill 17 Farm Laborer OH Samuel Pesline 6 then John was dead by the time Charles was born in July 1861, as well as dead by June 1860. This does make it harder for Ann and John to have been Charles parents. This makes it look way more like Margaret was Charles's maybe, unwed mother and he was then adopted by his grandmother. I don't even want to start in on who the heck Samuel Pesline was! I'd say much of this can be cleared up by looking at some vital records! 3. You know what? That 1890 missing census would have cleared up so many of our questions ... I just know it! How frustrating that that one year has caused all of us so much grief. ha! ha! Anyway, I and another Dill researcher are pretty positive that the Charles Dill married to Jennie is the same one listed with Ann Dill. Barbara in Indiana Ann Trimmer <ann@trimmer.net> wrote: Gee I tried searching a bit differently and look what I found 1860 Crosby Twp, Hamilton Co OH p452 Mathew Dill 21 Famer OH Anna Dill 47 House work OH Margaret Dill 23 House work OH Elias Dill 17 Farm Laborer OH Samuel Pesline 6 THIS is the same Ann Dill married to John D Dill in 1850. Still not sure we can actually say, the Charles Dill married to Jennie is the one listed with Ann Dill and Margaret in 1870. This Anna Dill does match with the 1870 and 1880 listing a Charles Dill however. It is the leap from 1900 to 1880 that I'm not sure about. 3. You're right, Ann. Ann Dill could have been the mother of Charles. Recently I saw something on TV stating that years ago, women in their 50s were still having children. I've had a suspicion all along, though, that Margaret could have had an illegitimate child but I haven't been able to confirm that yet. More later, Barbara in Indiana Ann Trimmer <ann@trimmer.net> wrote: Why couldn't Ann Dill be the mother of Charles? Lots of women have given birth at the age of 48. It is always possible however, that Margaret was the unwed mother of Charles who was then adopted by Ann and then listed as a son. I have seen that happen too. ==== OHBUTLER Mailing List ==== To SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE: Send a message to: OHBUTLER-L-request@rootsweb.com or OHBUTLER-D-request@rootsweb.com Put SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE (whichever you want to do)

    3. Norma and Sandi: Thank you both for input. Just this afternoon I located John M. Miller and Martha Miller (Hirsch, et al) in Lockland, Hamilton County, OH, listed in the 1880 census which also showed Katel L. Miller, as their daughter. Kate L. was Samuel Roberts Krewson's mother. The curious thing is, that Kate L. was listed with the surname Miller in the 1880 census but Sam Krewson was born in 1874. More work to do here! Kate L. later remarried to Andrew Bevis who served in the 10th Kentucky Cavalry, Union Army. In 1911 they both went to the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Sandusky, Ohio. You may find this interesting: I am 80 years old and I distinctly recall visiting Kate and Andy in 1931 with my grandfather Samuel Krewson. I remember well shaking trooper Andy Bevis hand. At the time I was 5 years old. My impression was that he looked very old. Andy died later that year. Kate L. died in 1941 at 87 years of age. Again thank you both for your kindness. 1. Wolfe County, Kentucky
    2. Bill & Thelma
    3. During the western expansion, early settlers from Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee settled much of the border counties of Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky, and many of these pioneers, or their descendants, moved on northward and took root in Butler County, Ohio and its adjacent counties. Wolfe County, Kentucky has proven to be a rich source of genealogical information for those in Butler County that are researching Eastern Kentucky genealogy. The Wolfe County Kentucky Woman's Club has produced a series of history books that focus on family genealogy. Volume's I and II of the series are currently sold out, but a small number of volume III, published in 2002, is still available. It is a beautifully illustrated, 537-page embossed hardback book containing 29 articles and nearly 15,000 names that provide valuable perspective for the researcher interested in the region's history and genealogy. You may view a photograph of the book and the Table of Contents by going to the KYWolfe RootsWeb site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kywolfe/hisbook2.htm For information on the book or its cost, contact: Thelma Carroll Rice, Editor, PO Box 339, Campton, KY 41301-0339 ; or e-mail billthel@mrtc.com for additional information. Her maiden name was Miller, daughter of John Miller and Martha Hirsch (Hersh, Hirsh) Samuel Krewson's father is indicated as David on his death certificate. I am interested in knowing where in Pennsylvania Samuel Krewson was born. Samuel Roberts Krewson registered for the draft in Sandusky, Ohio on September 12, 1918. He listed his birth date as August 31, 1876. He did not list his place of birth. Dr. Bill Rice

    1. Question regarding Wards in Hamilton
    2. Bob Kneer
    3. Old census records have Hamilton divided into Wards. Ward 1 City of Hamilton, Ward 2, etc. Is the City still divided this way? If so, have the boundaries ever changed for these wards? Lastly where could I find a map outlining these Wards and The streets within the boundaries? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Sandi Deaton-Kneer Orlando, Florida
