    1. Petition to Gov. Wm. Penn in 1774 for troops to protect Westmoreland Co., Pa
    2. Jacxob Round twice signed petitions to the Gov. in PA in 1774. Jacob Round later moved to Butler Co., Ohio. Did any of your ancestors live in Westmoreland Co., PA around 1774. This was in Hanna's Town on the Loyalhanna River. See below what I had sent out to researchers: Carl, you have very good insightful questions !! Thats why I run these conclusions by you !! There were several sources that has Jacob in ,or near Hanna's Town, Westmoreland Co., PA. One is the " 1745-1880 History of Indiana Co.,Pennsylvania by J. A. Caldwell" Indiana Co. split up into part of Westmoreland Co. Hanna's Town on the Loyalhanna R. is where they had constructed a small fort. Jacob Round signed two petitions to Gov. Wm. Penn in 1774 asking for troops to help defend the community from Indian attacks. I have a copy of this and another history which has the same thing. Why do I think this is our Jacob ? 1. In Ancestry, a Watson researcher shows that Polly (Mary) Round was born in Westmoreland Co.. PA on 13 Jan. 1779 ! 2. Several researchers ( Rowen) show Andrew Round/Rowen as born in Phila. on 1773 or 1775 ? I personally think it had to be 1773 if Jacob was in Hanna's town in 1774. ( or was he born in Phila. ? ) 3.I have been told trhat Westmoreland Co. later had part of it merged with Alleghany Co. ( where Pittsburg is). Ancestry shows Isaac Watson and Philip Shrader were from Alleghany Co., PA. 4. LDS show Ezra Round as being born in 1810 in Alleghany Co., PA; but, he says he was born in Butler Co., Ohio ! 5. Several decendents of Catherine Round, say she was born in 1765 or 67. One of the Allendorf researchers ( I can't recall who) says she was born in Dela. ? We know that John Dickerson( Rev. War soldier) was in the " Delaware Blues" during the war. He married Catherine in North Bend, Hamilton Co., Ohio, in 1796. Frederick O'lendorff married her at same place in 1793. 6. Philip Round joined the Army in 1790 thru 1794 in KY. at age 19 or 20 as a scout/spy. Jacob Sr. and Andrew signed up for Symmes Purchase in 1791. They were Rounds. 7. Philip, again served active duty in the Militia twice in 1813 during war of 1812. He was in 1820 census in Dearborn Co., Indiana. In 1829 , he and wife, Mary sold land in Randolf township, Dearborn Co as Rowan !! hIs son,Andrew and wife, Charlotta were in the !830 census at Dearborn Co., IN. Andrew was born abt. 1800 and wife Charlotta ,1803. 8. Philip Rowan, widower, was living with dau. in law, Charlotta and her children in Fountain Co. census of 1850. He was 80 and she was 43. Andrew, her husband, died in 1841 at age of 40 and is buried in Richland's ( Fountain Co.) Salem cemetary. So is his sister, MaryRowan, who died at age 20 in 1831. Also a son Jahile?, age 5 and a Elwessa, age 1, dau of Melissa Rowan Emmett and Rolla Emmett. Andrew's tombstone read " Andrew Round !! I have picts. obtained from my researcher, Terri Brown. 9. Andrew Round, son of Philip, was in the 1840 census of Tippecanoe Co. along side of Ezra Round. Both were recorded as Rowan. Charlotta/Charlotte Rowan later showed up as living with a son , Andrew J Rowen in Kansas. You can see how the name Round interchanged with Rowan and Rowen. 10. By the way, the census for Philip Rowan showed him being born in Iowa; but. reading it shows PA not IA. !!! 11. A decendent of Joseph Rowan, d 1898 in Tazewell Co., ILL, Judith Mead, sent me a partial family tree showing Joseph as being the son of Philip Rowan and Mary Dickinson. ( Could she be a relative of John Dickerson/Dickinson ?? ) I know that Catherine Dickerson/Dickinson had pension papers where the Army had recorded " John Dickinson" ) 12. As you know, my great grandfather was John Dickinson Round. I personally think that Jacob Sr. probably came out of NJ or Dela. to Phila. to Hanna's Town, possibly to Alleghany Co. and down the Ohio River to Hamilton Co. where he obtained land in Butler Co., while living at North Bend then on to Butler Co. by 1807. SIGNED iNDENTURE in 1811 and died sometime close to when son, Jacob Jr. died in 1819. Daniel sold his land in 1818 and went to Dearborn Co. for 1820 census. Possibly Daniel is the Daniel Rowan in Fountain Co. census of 1830 and Daniel Round in 1840 Cook Co., ILL census . Philip's wife probably died between 1829 and 1850. Andrew, Philip's son died in 1841. Ezra Round moved to Buchanan Co., MO. shortly after 1841 then to Doniphan Co., KS abt. 1855. Chas.

    1. Missouri Death records
    2. Norma Adams
    3. Hi, Missouri has started putting death records online. They have an index from 1910 to 1955 and from 1910 to 1920 they have the actual death certificate images online. http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/ So, if your Butler Co., families traveled west, you might want to check this out. I got lucky and found my gg-grandpa's death certificate. I had no idea where he died or was buried! I knew he was in Missouri and that was all. Happy Hunting, Norma

Since this spelling variation comes close, I thought I'd mention these ink blotters up for bid on e-Bay which advertise the Gebhart Body Co. on So. Fifth St. in Hamilton. This company specialized in the repairing of auto bodies, fenders, tops, etc. No year is given that I can see, but the phone number is only 4 digits, which would place this company quite a few years back... e-Bay Item number: 6270699391 Item number: 6270698776 Item number: 6270698125 Seller: zachf1973 Diane Beaty Blankets for America Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation Before us lies a new day, and in the distance a new world, ours to create by the strength of our faith.

Today while working on a web page for some Butler Co relatives, John Randolph and Mary (George) DeArmond, and their daughter Daniel and "Addie" (DeArmond) Roberts of Morgan township, I looked for more on-line info on Daniel Roberts. Gary King's project, "Memoirs of the Miami Valley" came up with lots of details on Daniel's side of the family. Thanks so much, Gary, for transcribing that book for the Butler Co OH site. 3. Hi Sharon, You will be hard pressed to find obits back before 1900. Even then most have little info. Have you chccked the Clinton County History, I found a quite very helpful large right-up on one I was researching in Clinton Co IN. Hope you have as good of luck. Also check outside the direct line for cousins, in-laws etc. Check the available cemetery records. Find where his land was when he last lived. He likely buried nearby, maybe on the farm. Remember death records where not recorded in Indiana until 1882. Also check for wills, estates even land records. I checked the WPA death index but did not find either he or his wife. 3. Here's one for you. My 3rd. great grandfather {Jonathan WILLS } bought a farm in Clinton Co. Indiana circa 1830-33. He and his wife, Hannah DOUGLASS were married, 2, March 1829 in Butler Co.{ although his surname was spelled WILLIS not WILLS } and started their family in Butler Co. Ohio at the time of this purchase. Family story has it that he died from Dropsy, while on this farm. I have tried every where both in Butler Co. Ohio and Clinton Co. Indiana and can not find an obituary for his death, no death records in either state and no where can I find where he is buried. YEEKS!!!!!! What to do? I have sent money to both Ohio and Indiana for his death records and never have heard from either state but, both have cashed my checks. LOL Well, it isn't really funny. I do know that after Jonathan {John} died Hannah and her son Charles, born in Middle town 1, December 1829 went to live with her family in Butler Co. and by 1833 she married Ellis SQUIRE on 18, November 1833 in Butler Co. I did find a marriage for an Ellis SQUIRE and Betsy THOMPSON on 10, December 1829 in Butler Co. but, am not real sure if this is the same Ellis SQUIRE. I also know that Charles lived in Clinton Co. Indiana most of his life as did his mother and stepfather. I hope I have given you enough information and that SKS might have an answer for me, other than to give it up.
