    1. [OHBUTLER] Ross, Butler, OH Philips surname 1800's
    2. srose
    3. 1. My 3GGrandfather was David Phillips, born about 1823 in Ohio. 2. I found a listing at familysearch.org for a David Phillips b: 26 Sep 1823 in Ross, Butler, Ohio / d: 10 Mar 1902 Swan, Marion, IA. This one has the right birth date and state, but the wife's name is different that I was looking for. 3. On the death transcript for his son Charles M. Philips; it lists his mother as M. Cisco of OH, and his father as D. Phillips of IA I wonder if one of these is the first wife and the other the second wife, and which would be the mother of Charles M. Also: I wonder if these are two different families, with two different David's. 4. I find David on the 1860 Clay, Marion, Ia Census with wife Mary A. and son, Charles M. David 37 born in Ohio Mary A. 37 born in Ohio Charles M. 06 born Clay, Marion, Iowa I have not been able to find anything else with David, Mary, and Charles M. Please let me know if you have anything on this family. Does anyone happen to know anything about this family? thank you very much, Sarah

    2. Is REDBIRD still a member of this list? She used to post obits to this list, I remember. David Endres also has an obit page for Butler County at _http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Ehamilton/obitindex.html_ (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hamilton/obitindex.html) There is an archived page for Middletown Journal obits from Oct 1997- Aug 2001from the Butler Co OHGenWeb page. Now I'm off to add a link to Bill's obit page, and with this I'll plan to set up a separate obit index on the OH-GW index page. Thanks to all! Nancy Sween

    3. The St. Mary's Cemetery has been transcribed by a lady at the Southwest Butler County Genealogy Society and published by them. The book is available from them. The book is 160 pages with almost 5000 names. The book goes from 1867 - 2002. St. Stephens Cemetery has also been transcribed and is available through the Genealogy Society. That book is over 16,000 names and over 600 pages. That book goes from 1850 - 2003. Hope that this helps.
