Lin and others that may be interested, yes, I have a newspaper account of the death which states that a Coroner's inquest was to be held. However, the results of the inquest(s) were not specifically reported on; at least as far as I could document. In addition, I have an interests in the official Coroner's report for it's value in providing clues to family associations etc. Bette > Have you found any information about the death in the local newspaper? > Lane > Library has some old newspapers on microfilm. Dear List Members, I am researching a family lineage that includes an ancestor whose death occurred, under suspicious circumstances, in 1910 in Hamilton, Butler County. I have attempted to obtain the inquest & county coroner's reports on this matter but have been told by the Hamilton, Butler County's Coroner's Office that the county Coroner's records for the time period do not exist. It may have been the 1913 flood that explains the absence of the archived Coroner's reports for the period of my interest. Finding Coroner's reports can be a challenge. Does anyone have any idea if the state of Ohio has archived county Coroner's reports in any state library or archives? Has anyone any knowledge of where else I might look to find the information that I am seeking? Thank you, Bette

Try checking with your local library to see if they subscribe to Heritage Quest. I can access Heritage Quest from my home computer by using the number from my library card. On the Heritage Quest site you can search census records, by year, state, last name, etc. so you would be able to see all the Wilkinson entries for 1820, although there is not much individual information on the 1820 census. Just the resident's name. Hi everyone, I have need in my genealogy search for the following: 1. Any documentation of John Harrison Johnson, b. 1/1791, d 3/20/1869 and Spouse Sara (Stout) Johnson, b 5/4/1799, d.8/19/1870, both assumed to have died in Butler Co., or Union Co. IN as they are buried in Crawford Cemetery in Indiana just west of Oxford, Ohio over the state line. 2. Does anyone have the 1820 Census of Cincinnati Ohio? I would like to have info on all the people with the surname Wilkinson from it. I have been trying to establish names of my 3rd Wilkinson great grandparents and all I have is their son's Samuel Barker Wilkinson obituary that states he was born in 1821 in Cincinnati so hopefully they were recorded in the 1820 Census year. Also searching for place of his marriage to Prescilla Stout Johnson on September 25th 1845, I assume Butler or Warren Counties. This is HIS OBITUARY of March 28, 1890, THE GREENSBURG STANDARD NEWSPAPER, Greensburg, Decatur Co., Indiana** Samuel Barker Wilkinson Samuel Barker Wilkinson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 6th, 1821, of English parentage. Left as an orphan at the age of six, he was brought up by John Baxter, of Warren County. He was married to Prescilla Johnson, on September 25th 1845. They moved to Jennings County, Indiana in 1854, but returned to Ohio in 1858 (Butler Co.), where they resided until 1875, when they came to the farm near Westport, Ind., which was home until the time of his death, March 21,1890. Thanks to all Look-up volunteers, as they do a great service as I know it is hard at times. I have a unique document on the "Storytellers", about genealogist and people who search for there ancestors. If any one would lik a copy let me know and I will send it. Hi Bill, I made an error in not changing the subject line. It should have read "James NICHOLAS m Mary MORRIS". I'm sure this is a different family. Perhaps they could be related but I have not ran across your families in my search. Although the children's names are eerily the same the time frame and locations are not. My families immigrated Wales>PA>Butler Co. OH where James and Mary died. Thanks for your reply. Glenda
Glenda: Your post included some familiar surnames, but I do not know if there is a connection to this Nicholas family, which I researched as part of the Powell genealogy: [John ?] Nicholas, b. Wales, ca. 1775, d. in Welshbush, near Utica, N.Y. m. Sarah Morris, b. ca. 1781, Wales, d. Sept. 4, 1850, Springboro, Crawford Co., Pa. She m. (2) in N.Y., 1815, as his 2nd wife, Watkin Powell, b. ca. 1773, Brecknockshire, Wales, d. Sept. 6, 1850, Springboro, Pa. Three Nicholas children: Dr. John Nicholas, b. ca. 1805, N.Y., d. July 14, 1872, Indianapolis, Ind., m. Oct. 30, 1833, Rachel Gardiner, b. ca. 1813, Pa., d. May 20, 1879, San Francisco, Calif. Ann Nicholas, b. ca. 1806, N.Y., d. Aug. 7, 1875, prob. Erie Co., Pa., m. Mar. 30, 1833, Abner H. Gould, b. Apr. 11, 1806, d. May 9, 1889, Springfield, Erie Co., Pa. Margaret Nicholas, b. ca. 1807, N.Y., d. Sept. 22, 1895, prob. Springfield, Erie Co., Pa., m. Nathan Gould, b. Dec. 1818, N.Y., d. 1879, prob. Springfield, Erie Co. We are also trying to see if Sarah (Morris) Nicholas Powell was related to David Morris, b. Aug. 1, 1774, Pembrokeshire, Wales, settled in Welshbush, N.Y., in 1800, moved to Crawford Co., Pa., in 1815, where he died Feb. 29, 1856. His wife was Phebe Lewis, and their son, Levi Lewis Morris, 1800-1844, married my g-g-g-grandfather's sister, Nancy McKnight. Are these Welsh Morrises or Nicholases yours? Since I am very much involved in the local genealogy and history of this area where I grew up and live, I would be interested in your search and accomplishments over time. It would be nice if you are able to inform me once in a while as to your discoveries. I hope you have become involved in your local historical and genealogical groups. It is surprising how much can be accomplished by a few who desire to work together. Most people have absolutely no idea how much impact they can have on their own lives and the futures of their families by the positive knowledge that they gain from this endeavor. It ain't all about the names and dates.
