I am new to the Brown County List, and am interested in descendants of William Brown KIRK. William B Kirk was born 1788 in Cecil Co MD, and died 1864 in Brown Co, and is buried Mt Carmel Cemetery in Washington Twp. His wife was Mary Williams, whom he married in Chester Co PA. He moved his family to Brown Co between 1832 and 1840, and engaged in farming. Their children who grew to adulthood are: Sarah, married Squire Pursell in 1850, no children Imri, died 1855, buried Mt Carmel, married Lucinda Crist 1841. Gideon, died after 1880. Joseph, died after 1900, married Margaret Ellen Colgan in 1860, 8 children. Joshua W, died after 1880, married Rachel Ball in 1848, 9 children. George W, married Rachel Elizabeth McVey in 1858. William S, born 1829, died 1852. Rev Eli, born 1831, left Brown County around 1860 and headed to Miami County area, where he married and had 3 children, one of them being my great grandfather. I have a diary covering 1856-57 written by Eli Kirk. He attended school at Ohio Wesleyan part of the year, and spent the rest of his time helping around his father's farm.
