Although I did not find the record of indenture for my great-grandmother yesterday when I visited the Recorder's Office, I did find some interesting court cases mentioned in the various journals there. The Recorder's Office employees didn't know where I might find the cases and I didn't have time to check at the Brown County Courthouse. The cases date back to the mid-to-late 1800s. Might they actually be at the courthouse or might they be stored at some other facility in Georgetown? Of most interest to me is: CP 1310 Magdaline Koob vs. Jacob Arbogast. This I found in Execution Docket No. 6. Common Please, 1871. The outcome: Filed judgement for plaintiff May 5, 1873. It reads: "Real Estate to wit Situate in the Township of Ripley, County of Brown and State of Ohio being part of (looks like the period punction mark) in Lot in Sard? Saru Town known and .....in the Recorded Plat of Sard or Saru Town by thirty-two (32). fronting ??? feet on Market Street and running back sixty feet." Does it appear that he had a dispute with a neighbor? I an surprised that my great-grandfather owned land! I checked for a will and never found one. I wrote to the Probate COurt and they never found one either...... Judging from the census, it "appears" that his property or residence passed to his son Joseph. He lwas enumerated with Joseph towards the end of his life in 1880. I would like to find the court "case." Thanks, Buffy CP 696 A & J (T?)rounstine & Co. vs. Peter Krummert filed April 15, 1862 (from the Execution Docket 2, p. 387)
