Eagle Creek ,or Elk River, mostly rises in eastern Brown and western Adams Co,and enters the Ohio east of Ripley. There,it devides Union [Ripley] and Huntington [Aberdeen] townships. Red Oak is shorest of the 5,and enters at mid-Ripley, and has Red Oak Presbyterian near the split of US 62 and US 68. East a couple miles is Liberty Christian,and west was a Baptist church. Straight Creek enters west of Ripley 3? miles. Arheim,in Franklin township, is on it's headwaters. It divides Pleasant from Union townships near the river today,but 1802,Pleasant township's census included everybody east of White Oak Creek. The longest creek is White Oak Creek,which heads in Highland Co ,and runs between Mt Orab,Greene,twnsp, and Sardenia,Washington twnsp.,and past the once bustling New Hope,Scott twnsp. and a mile west of Georgetown,splits Pleasant farom Lewis Twnsp. And at the Ohio,now east of Higginsport,it still splits those 2 The East Fork of the Little Miami splits Perry township,and Fayetteville. And it drains part of Sterling township. Said East Fork enters the Little Miami at Milford,Ohio,and the Little Miami enters the Ohio in East Cincinnati's Columbia area. Bullskin Creek's east and middle branch drains sw Brown Co,Lewis Twnsp,and it's East Fork, Franklin twnsp of Clermont Co. Earliest settlement was along these creeks,and the Ohio. Earliest industry was water-powered grist and saw mills,and stills. And the 1st stores were at the mills,as were the blacksmith'. All the creeks above have steep hillsides for a few miles from the Ohio River -hillsides passed by until the 1850 German's settled them,planting vineyards. I didn't talk enough about the forks of Eagle Creek,but I know them least. The East Fork at Liberty church-cemetary is the only one I pass by. My parents met,in 1920,in the picnic grounds at Kimball's Ford, Scott Township. Kimball's wife had been War of 1812 Col Henry Zumwalt's widow.
