HI: I'm researching MOSES BERRY of MASON COUNTY, KY. He married MARIAH PRIOR and had two children, ARTHUR and BELLE. He also had a son, I believe by another woman, named ALEXANDER. Moses enlisted in the U.S. Colored Troops and fought in the Civil War at Camp Nelson, KY. His last two slave owners were ROBERT H. BALDWIN and MILTON DAUGHERTY/DOUGHERTY after that. Moses and family moved to BROWN COUNTY, OHIO after 1880. I want to research previous generations of the family, namely JUDA(H), the name I have as one of his parents (maybe his mother). I only have her name and no other info about her. If anyone has suggestions on how to proceed (I'm assuming she was a slave also), I'd appreciate hearing about it. I'd also like to find out who Alex's mother was but have no other clues except that Mariah was too young to be his mother. Also: Moses' wife Mariah was the daughter of SEYMOUR and PARMITIA. Not sure about them at all other than their names. Any info/leads on sources of KY research appreciated also.
