He came to Ohio or Kentucky from Ireland. Died 6 apr. 1876, loc unknown. My ggrandfather, Franklin David Hall, was born in Aberdeen, Ohio on 1 jan 1845. I have no info on William's wife or any other children, they may have had. Any help would be appreciated! Dale
Dale I have a William HALL who is listed in the 1860 and 1870 census of Ripley, Ohio. He is listed as 50 in 1960 and is a boat builder. He enlisted in Company G, 182 Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was mustered out 7 July 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. He died in Brown County Ohio on 5 April 1878. I don't know the name of his first wife, but he married Rose Ellen Degman, my great grandmother.(her second marriage) 22 February 1857. The 1860 census lists the following : William Hall age 50 boat builder. Rose Ellen (Degman) Hall age 32 Housewife. Julia Degman age 18 Laura Degman age 16 James H. age 14 John P. age 12 Sylvester Howard age 9 (my grandfather) Alexander Hall age 25 Engineer George Hall 14 Lucy Hall age 12 Ann age 9 Rachel age 7 Martha E. age 3 Apparently they had another child together (Thomas). Is this your family? I think not, but one never knows.
