It is believed (though not proven as far as I'm aware) that William was Edwards' brother. I have little info on the parents, but the little bit I have found indicates that their father was Thomas Wallace, who was born in Ireland, and their mother was Catherine who was born in Penn.

Reading page 889 of Boyd Crumrine's "History of Washington Co,Pa " hints that the young Francis Dunley spent 10 days early in 1782 serving on what became called the Moravian Indian Massacre, and later, joined my Capt George Brown at Col. Wm Crawford's July,1782 defeat. If Francis served at the Moravian Massacre, did his brother,Rev John Dunlevy, who switched from Presbyterian after the Cane Ridge revival,to "New Light" ,and who,in 1806, became a sw Ohio-mid Ky Shaker leader with Richard McNemarr. I guess I'm wondering if being at the massacre of 90+ Christian Indians -they were led from their church, and made to kneel, and had their heads bashed in-had an effect on sw Ohio's religious leaders? ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Betty, My Moses Lane/Lain was born in 11 Dec 1820 in Brown County, Ohio and died 11 Jan 1864 in Louisville, Kentucky and was buried in Cave Hill, Civil War Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Moses & his family later lived in Johnson, Bartholomew, Starke & La Porte Counties, Indiana I have his marriage license and civil war records and other primary source documents as well... I know that Aaron Lane/Lain of Brown County, Ohio was his older brother, and I think they were both sons of Valentine Lane/Lain or possibly Peter Lane/Lain both also of Brown County, Ohio... In addition, Mordacai Lane/Lain of Clermont & Brown County, Ohio could be a possibility as well, just have not been able to ferret out the proof yet... I have a small web page up on him and his family at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lainfamily/MosesLAIN.htm Best Regards, Patrick |---------+----------------------------> | | "Betty Stokes" | | | <[email protected]| | | rr.com> | | | | | | 18-10-2002 06:57 | | | | |---------+----------------------------> >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | To: <[email protected]> | | cc: | | Subject: Re: [OhBrown] LAIN/LANE Families of Brown County Ohio | >------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| I am mostly researching Ross, Day, Henise, Kautz, Carter in Brown Co., OH. I have Dawsons, Pattersons across the River in Bracken Co. But I am researching a Moses Lane b. abt 1811 Pike Co., OH, married 14 Aug 1837, died abt 1855 in Ohio. He married Nancy J. Walls and they had children named Cynthia Ann, Elizabeth "Lizzie" (our ancestor), William Riley, Rebecca A. and Mary A. Lane. Elizabeth married James Stokes. They lived in Coles Co., IL, probably formerly in Edgar Co., IL. There was at least one more family member living in Coles Co. His father might be named Dennis, but that was something I saw on Genforum. No proof at all.
