At that time many people buried their dead on their own property. I know my people over in Mason County Kentucky did. If you can find the property, perhaps you can find the gravesite. My apologies to list subscribers, but this post is clearly spam and not appropriate for posting to the board. It is being flooded on the message boards and it came to you from from our board through the gateway, but has just been removed from the Brown County board and reported to RootsWeb's Abuse Desk. I suspect they will remove it from all of the other boards. Again, my apologies for this getting through. I recommend you just delete it, but that is your choice. I personally prefer not making it profitable for ANY spammer. David E. Cann [email protected] Brown Co. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xVB.2ACE/1616 Message Board Post: Dear fellow researchers: In my professional work I use the FOIA to acquire records from all areas. While you cannot just send in a generic "find this" request, using the proper request the proper forms and properly worded legal letter will result in the documentation you are seeking. I received 84 pages the first time and two weeks later received an additional 124 pages of documentation. These records went back to 1838. It was a godsend! I will spell this out exactly to anyone who wishes direction and send you the form, the request letter, what you need to send them in terms of specifics, if you have them, or if not, where and how to find them. This is what the Freedom of Information Act is for! But you have to know how and where to use it. The FOIA is available for use in any state for any public record. It does not, not replace the researcher, but for those of us who have been unable to physically get to an out of town location or to contact an active researcher it's! great. As a result of my request I have my gggrandfather's entire household inventory down to every single knife and fork, I have his entire office contents down to the list of law books and furniture he owned, I have the guardianship papers for all of my ggrand uncles and aunts, I have a (long) list of people that owed him money for mortgages he held and how much, when they were due - it was like a treasure chest. I know how much he paid for a loaf of bread, how much of an allowance the Estate had my gggrandmother on for the next 5 years! And all because I knew how to ask the right way. Again, this is just one tool. I am preparing a "package" to email those who are interested. My email is [email protected] The response has been rather large, it's going to take me a few days, possible until the weekend. I am requesting a donation of $5 per person requesting the package. I will send the package first work on the honor system for the $5.00. I will be glad to help! anyone with any additional information or reformatting the forms for other states, other data requests, etc. for free. This is just taking me a LOT of time. I will email all the details with the forms, etc. In the meantime, start searching for as many specifics as you can get. This is not "send me the death certificate of...." This is "I searched the probate database for (county) and found that my ggrandfather's estate is in your records. It is between the years XXXX and XXXX." Then there is more legal lingo, etc. etc.. Anyway, I am sorry this post is so long, I will be sending this out to all interested sometime this week or weekend. Also, please advise anyone else you think may be interested in this information in other lists. Thanks! Kathleen Lawler

I have been trying to find the McKitricks in Ohio for over five years. I had located other children of Thomas and Catherine who had relocated to East Baton Rouge, La. We knew their daughter Catherine had returned to Ohio in about 1851 to care for her mother and had returned to La in 1855 after her mother’s death but we did not know that Thomas was still alive at the time nor did we know that two of Catherine’s brother’s were living there in 1850. So much information, its wonderful what you provided. I have not yet analyzed the data, my verizon line was out of service for a few days and I just got back on line this evening. I have no idea who Sarah is but time will tell. I guess we will have to plan a trip to Brown County next year. By the way Thomas and Catherine McKitrick are my wife’s GG grandparents. In 1820, Henry B. Gray and his family lived in Ripley, Pleasant Township, Brown County, Ohio. I have anecdotal information that his father may have been named Archibald Gray. There were at least two Archibald Grays in the area during the right timeframe: Archibald Gray born 1754, died 28 Feb 1849 in Highland County, Ohio. He and his wife Elizabeth had at least one child, a son named James Gray, born in 1789. Archibald Gray born about 1757 in Pennsylvania, died about 1819 in Clermont County, Ohio. Wife's name unknown, but he had at least 12 children. Can anyone help me with this?

(abt.1835) Carpenter ( Is this the same Daniel McKitrick that was in the 1860 census, if so he should be about 53 and not 35 years old which could just be a mistake from when the census was copied, the numbers could have been reversed by mistake, but where is his family ? Maybe his wife is deceased and the children all married. ) It looks like your Thomas McKitrick died between 1860 and 1870 instead of between 1830 and 1850. I have the death records for Brown Co. Ohio for 1867 to 1881 and he isn't listed in them so that narrows it down to his death being between 1860 and 1867. Marriage Records : Thomas McKitrick married Susan Adkins on 26,Aug.1840, by Cheniah Covalt JP. in Perry Twp. Brown Co. Ohio. This was the only marriage record that I could find for the name "McKitrick" in Brown Co. Ohio between 1818-1850. There was one other reference to the "McKitrick" name in the records that I have : Will Abstracts : William Mckitrick - Will written 2,Jul.1828, Probated 3,Apr.1840. Witnesses : Silas Thomas, N. Beasley and John L. Wright. Names : Sister Margaret Wright : to William Wright and Alexander Wright. Ext'rs : William Wright and Alexander Wright. I have a few of the cemetery listings for Perry Twp. Brown Co. Ohio but none of the Mckitrick family is listed in the ones that I have. They could all be buried there I just don't have the list for the cemetery that they are in. Charlene Smitson

This is being sent out to all of my lists to let you know about a problem RootsWeb began experiencing in the last couple of days that is causing some valid subscribers to not receive posts to lists he/she subscribes to. When a post is not delivered to a subscriber, it is "bounced" to the List Admin (that's me) for information. When a certain bounce threshold is reached within a given period of time, that subscriber is dropped from the list as no longer active. Normally this is good, because it purges the lists of people who change ISPs without notifying us, or are otherwise not receiving e-mail. In this case, however, it is due to certain ISPs who have installed spam filters and are listing RootsWeb on their reject list erroneously. In a few cases, some RootsWeb mail is getting through, and some is not, but in all cases when a subscriber reaches a given number of bounces, his subscription is terminated automatically by the servers. If you have a personal spam filter installed like "Spamcop" or others, or if your ISP has one installed to do it for you, then you are a possible candidate top have your RootsWeb mail cut off without notice. For now, please just keep an eye on the volume of mail you get. If you have a sudden drop in mail, try to subscribe to the list once again. If you are still subscribed, you should (hopefully) receive a notice to that effect. If you are not on the list any longer, your subscription attempt will be accepted and you will be put back on the list. You may also write to me privately if you would like me to check it for you, but please understand that with several lists that I manage I cannot possibly do everyone manually so I would ask that you try it yourself first. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in this regard. I do not even know if this message will get to everyone, but hopefully it will. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me off the list. RootsWeb is working to resolve this problem with the people who control the spam filters, and hopefully it will be resolved before too many more people are dropped from the lists. David E.
