    1. [OhBrown] William I. McCormick
    2. Arthur Miller
    3. Looking for any info on a William I. McCormick who md. Maria Clery Eggleston. According to legend he served in the Rev. War and came from Va. to Ky. to claim a land grant but they were killed by Indians shortly after arriving. William and Maria had a son named John E. McCormick b. 1788 in Pa. (?). John E. was supposedly raised by William's brothers. In fact, it appears that John E. was with a John McCormick in 1810 census in Bracken Co., KY.---could be one of William's brothers. In addtion, a James McCormick, age 26-45, was in same census. John E. was in Bracken Co., Ky. by at least 1808, md. Mary Anderson 1809 in Mason Co.Ky., was a tailor, and d. 1868 in Bracken Co. John E. and Mary had a son William b. 1814 who practiced medicine in Bracken Co. and in Brown Co., Ohio. Art Miller, Louisville

    1. [OhBrown] Thomas and Mary Ball[?] Brown d Clermont 1817 era tradition
    2. HERMON B FAGLEY
    3. Thomas and Mary Ball[?] Brown had grown children scattered over 1800-10 Clermont. Joseph Brown, and bro-in-law,James Arthur, and Sailor niece were near Milford,1800+. Joseph's brother's,Wm and John were north of Bethel, where, tradition says, Thomas and Mary Ball [?] Brown are buried in their family cemetary off Bethel- Concord Rd,in a soybean field. Another brother,George Brown,1808-20 lived at the curve in South Bantam Rd,in Monroe township. He came from Brown's Run of Cabin Creek,on the Lewis-Mason Co Ky line. He lost a land suit, and moved to Milroy,Rush Co,Ind. The Brown's had lived within the triangle of Millersburg, and Paris, and Cane Ridge church in Bourbon Co,Ky. 1793-1806+ and before that, near Moorefiels,Hampshire- Hardy Co,WV. [email protected] has long researched them. And now is using DNA as a tool. And I'm trying to aid his research. DNA is providing a location never mentioned in earlier publications and traditions mentioning Thomas and Mary bALL[?] Brown. There is an area in nw Delaware near where Del,Pa,and Md now come together after Mason-Dixon's 1760's surveys. An area perhaps disputed between Wm Penn and Lord Baltimore. An area both settled colonies on the disputed land. Newark, Delaware and Newport Delaware, and White Clay Creek branch of Christina River, and Mill Creek, and Red Clay Creek, and Ball Creek, and Cooch's Bridge, and the Pecander Welsh Tract Baptists, and New Munster colony, and Nottinghan Colony, . A 10 mile circle would cover the area of Pa,De,and Md. DNA says that's the spot, as I understand it. A Thomas Jones mentions a George Brown in his will, plus Morgan Jones. St James Episcopal. Welsh Tract Baptist. Quakers galore. and some Swedish Lutherians. Whose research has backed what surnames to the area? Ball,Bracken,Cann, Claypool, Gregg, and more ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Visit www.juno.com

    3. Dick, Yes, Hermon has given the Clermont County list some of his wonderful historical information the last few days. I added to one with Brown County info that should have been on this list: <<There were quite a few French in and around Brown County, but a lot of them were Belgian from what is now the Luxemburg Province of Belgium which is French speaking. These people are also know as Walloons. The census records of Brown County, OH are very interesting because as the political climate changed in that region in Belgium, they changed the answer as to where they were from; France, Alsace, and finally said Belgium in the 1880s. Names; were as you mentioned plus Etienne, Muel, Louiso, Jacquemin, Leonard, Baune, Nichols, Vilvens, Georges, Clement, Dabe, and many others>>> Mary in Georgia, USA [email protected] Our Family Kudzu Vine http://community.webtv.net/granmary/family

    1. Re: [OhBrown] Anna L. Ramsey Born Brown County
    2. Yolanda Lifter
    3. Joy, In Ohio, births (and deaths) from 1867-19 Dec 1908 are not like the certificates we have today. They were recorded in ledgers (if they were even reported) which are held in the probate courts of the county where the event took place. There may be some discrepancies in the date in the book and the actual birth since most of the births were not reported right away. Many Ohio libraries do have copies of the records on microfilm available for on-site searches. You may find the correct date of birth and parents, but the name is not the one you are seeking. I thought I had found a twin sister to one my grandmothers and two additional brothers while looking at birth records in Pike Co. last year. Upon further investigation, their names had been changed after the births were recorded. My grandmother went from being a "Goldie" to a "Leona." I guess her hair must have darkened. : ) Strangely enough, one of her brothers named a daughter Goldie.
