By all means, check the info on the Ohio death index, but please don't accept what it says as "gospel".....if you don't find what you're looking for there, do not assume that it is not available at the county level....several of my own family members are NOT listed on this index, but readily found at the courthouses. On another note, does anyone know why there was a large Welsh population in the area?....I remember my grandmother speaking of the many Welsh in Wheeling (this would have been in the late 1800s through the early 1900s), and what wonderful "housekeepers" they were....out early every morning to scrub the stone steps that lead up to the front door. Did they come because of specific occupation? I wondered, as there were many mines in Wales, if they came to work in coal mines?
