Ted, I don't know if there is an area in Belmont or Monroe called this but Sugarcreek, in Tuscarawas Co., has always been known as "Little Switzerland" because of it's many Swiss ancestors. It even resembles Switzerland a little with it's rolling hills (sorry, no Matterhorn) and the many buildings with Swiss inspired architecture. It has a rich culture steeped in Swiss traditions and is right in the heart of Amish country. Other areas may have a large Swiss population and be called this as well. I would compare it to Chinatown where when you had a large Chinese community, it was referred to as that (i.e. San Francisco and New York City).
