I recently participated in the Phillips DNA project mainly to see if I connected to the descendant of the David Philips of Loudoun County, VA and Belmont County, OH as well as any other Phillips. Not only did I not connect to him I did not connect to any other Phillips. I felt sure I would connect to this David Phillips as my gggg grandmother (Jane Philips, widow of Evan Philips) whos Will was probated in Belmont County, OH in the May 1825 term was witnessed by a Thomas White (that Jane Philips called her friend) and a David Philips, Senr. Jane had a son, David Philips (my ggg grandfather); however, per his Bible and census and death records this David did not have a son David thus he would not be a senior (unless his sons were named David but went by their middle name or a David was born and died very young. A David, Jr. is not mentioned the Family Bible.). It also would be unusual, I think, for a beneficiary of a Will to also be a Witness. In any case my question is did the Loudoun and Belmont Counties David Philips have a son named David so that he could have been the Will Witness. If the answer to that is yes, then I can not imagine he was not a relative. Thank you David Phillips
