    3. Well it was like a paradox. I seached high and low for James in the censuses after--not during-- 1860 and I could not find him. I remember going to my local National Archives ( in California) and downloading all the GOINS in the Civil War. Voila! There is a James. I had to do a little match up wiith his age but it was him.
