I have a question - I have a William or Alexander Davis (depends who you talk to what the proper name was) who was born about 1788 in Maryland married 5 July 1808 Pultney Twp, Belmont Co., Ohio by James K. Kirk. to Susannah Long (no clue who her family was). from what I have pieced together they had 4 children Jacob Davis b -1809 ; George Washington Davis b -1811; John Adams b- 1812 and Jane b- abt 1815. It is said that William or Alexander Davis died around 1816 -- the kids were very young and so would there be papers filed to declare who would take care of them and have guardianship? The widow Susannah remarried in Aug 1818 by John Cunningham in Mickle (?) PA. to Benjamin Williams. Also it was written by a family member William or Alexander was buried in the first burial ground near Pultney, east of William in Belmont County-does anyone have any idea what cemetery this would have been?
